Agadez doesn't get much tourism these days due to the security situation, but I visited the old quarter with a staff member from my hotel who showed me around, and felt perfectly safe. If you're in Agadez you're already well off the beaten travel path of most. The old quarter has a few neat shops, it's not bustling post the end of major French tourism to the area, but has enough cool Tuareg items to make it interesting.

Wonderful town worth a visit. Unfortunately very difficult to access, for security reasons. I have to say I felt perfectly safe but I visited the town together with friends living there.
