The beach of Punta Jesus Maria offers the best sunset on the island of Ometepe. If you turn around you will also be met by lovely views of the volcano in which we also had the full moon in the field of view. Quite a sight! The beach has a restaurant that offers some food but not the most. The beach is quiet and is incredibly relaxing a perfect spot to visit at the end of the day after doing some more adventurous things around the island!

Punta Jesus Maria is a great place to watch the sunset while on Ometepe. That is undeniable. However, there are some things you really need to know.
Many of the pictures that show a large beach were taken during a historic drought in Nicaragua. The drought is over, and they had a record year for rain in 2017. Because of this, even though it is the dry season, the beach is completely underwater, and there is only the tiniest bit of the spit of black sand that you can walk on.
The European Union did an economic development project outside of the beach a few years ago. This includes stands for local vendors. What the EU failed to do in the project was add electricity, so there is only water and a small dirt parking lot. You now have to pay to enter the area, so be aware of the officials collecting an entrance fee. Some of the vendors want 10 Cordoba (about 33 cents USD) to use a bathroom. Locals on the island scratch their head over the EU investment, and I have to say we were left scratching our heads too on how much impact this is really having on the local economy.
As for other options, there is a hotel just prior to your arrival at Punta Santa Maria on the lakeshore. They have an excellent, inexpensive restaurant, Wifi, beer, and a free restroom.
If the lake is at high levels, I would skip this on your visit to Ometepe, and be aware of the changes made.

We came here for a romantic sunset that did not disappoint. The beach was crowded, as it was Semana Santa, and a little dirty. This should not be too common. As far as beaches are concerned, we vastly preferred playas Santo Domingo, San Fernando, and Santa Cruz on the other side of the island.

My husband, children, 4 friends and I came here to see the sunset and enjoy a great meal. Both of them were awesome. The beach is very nice and not crowded at all. We ate at the first restaurant which was owned by Roger(I think). He served us a great Nicaraguan meal for a very good price. The beer was chilled perfectly!

Went mid afternoon, arrived, the little bar was nice, and perfect for a beach spot. Cool drinks, even had hammocks. The water seemed high, and you couldn't walk out very far onto the "point" or sand bar. Had some great photos of the volcano from here, and if you take a tour that this spot is included, it would be great. BUT in my opinion, its not worth the specific effort, to go there, and that be your only spot. If you are on a tour, with several stops, then you can consider it a bonus stop.

I had bad luck because due to heavy rains in past weeks the sand strip was fully covered by water :( Locals told me that best time is to come in March or April, so next time.

Being the most western spot on the island, Punta Jesus Maria is the perfect spot to view the sunset. I went with a few backpackers in a tuk tuk and thoroughly enjoyed the view across the beautiful lake of Nicaragua, as well as the reverse view of the two volcanoes from the end of the point. It's a very tranquil and a great photo spot, especially for those silhouette photos of yourself and your friends.
Entrance fee to the beach is U$1 or C$30.

I've saw photos of this sand bar and it stretches like 1 km out into the lake, but we were pretty much walking on watery sand or water to about as far as you could walk before it got deep, but let me remind you, I went in December, right after rainy season but on the walk back you get phenomenal views of the volcanoes. Honestly, any time of the year if you're on Ometepe, go.

This point is famous for a very long sand bar - named Punto Jesus Maria - in the spirit of Jesus walking on water. Your hotel can help you understand the tide flow, then head there were the tide is low to walk far, turn around, and take in breathtaking views of volcano Conception. There is a small beach with picnic tables and snack stands where you can enjoy foods or a respite from the intense sun. This point is not super obvious from the road, though marked distinctly as a point of interest for tourists. When coming from Moyogalpa, it is past the airport. If you go through two distinct towns, you've gone too far. Go by car, scooter, or even taxi.

They did seem to have a restaurant, though I did not visit it so not sure about the menu or the prices. Hope that helps! Sorry for the late response
