Optional extra offered during small group tour from UK.The other group members came in also as ticket not expensive. Not so many films shot there at present but part of it was shut off as a German company were filming. Black Hawk Down was the first major film to use this studio and some of the props from that,Gladiator and an entire building constructed on the "back lot" for Game of Thrones can be seen. I was quite excited as I had seen the exterior before on previoud group tour but there was no time to do a tour inside. Well worth it if you love film.

The tour is really nice and it will get you through the rather unexpected Morocco's contribution to mainstream cinema. All cool and nice until the guide (official guide of the studios) asked us if we wanted to take a picture with a couple of extras in costumes who were chilling in between scenes. We did and then it turned out they wanted money for it!! Totally expected in places like Marrakech's square but NEVER in a place where you think everybody is behaving professionally.

If you happen to travel through Ouarzazate, Atlas Studios is an interesting place to visit, especially if your a film buff. Be sure to take a guided tour to fully appreciate the film sets and all the props. The Egyptian temple set is really amazing. While waiting 15 minutes for our tour to begin, we watched film highlights of scenes shot on these sets.

We visited Atlas Film Studios in Ouarzazate. We weren’t sure what to expect, but were pleasantly surprised and had a fantastic visit. We had a private guided tour. Our guide was great and spoke English well. The tour lasted about an hour and we were able to explore almost all of the movie sets. Some of the sets were very realistic and I really felt like I was in ancient Egypt or a souk in the Middle East. Our guide told us what movies had been filmed in each set. Many famous movies had been filmed at Atlas Studios. From a distance, we were even able to see the castle that was used for Game of Thrones. Our guide used our phone to make a couple of short movies of us. It was quite fun and entertaining. I definitely recommend a visit to Atlas Studios if staying in or passing through Ouarzazate. It was really a highlight of our day and trip to Morocco. We loved it.
