THE MAGIC OF SAHARA
Jan 2020
No visitor can go to Morocco without seeing the Sahara desert. From Marrakech it is difficult to visit Merzouga or Chigaga in one day . the drive is too long and you would miss the beauty of a sunset over the dunes and the magic of a pure sky at night , the magic of the stars that cannot be seen anywhere else. sitting on top of a dune ,at night , looking at the sky is an incredible experience surrounded by total SILENCE .
I am thinking of going back because only after did I understand the mystery of this mix; starry night and silence .
Beautiful tents are set up for an overnight stay, but you may want to stay more than one night once you have experience the Berber hospitality and seen the night .
And more but you can discover yourself.

The natural beauty of the Sahara is phenomenal
Oct 2019
We took the road from Ouarzazate to Marrakesh and were blown away by the natural beauty of the area as we drove on narrow roads with many switchbacks, climbs and declines through The Draa River gorge that were cut into the earth years ago.

The Draa Valley is home to Berber villages with its Kasbahs, sand dunes, and lush green plains. It begins its journey from the snow-capped Atlas Mountains and 1100 km. later drains into the Atlantic Ocean. It is Morocco’s largest river.

Our trip took us through the high Atlas Mountains with its many deposits of copper, iron and other metals turning the mountainous soil into mounds of reds, greens, blacks and other earthen tone colors. The trip took us through Col du Tichka, Morocco's highest mountain pass at 7410 ft which lies above the Marrakesh plains and gateway to the Sahara Desert. The trip was spell-binding.

Enchanting sands
Apr 2019
If some one asked me have you seen infinity, after seeing the Sahara, I would say yes. If someone asked me is infinity formless, I would say no. If someone asked me is infinity beautiful, I would say most certainly. And more. It is mysterious, sensuous and unbelievably beguiling. Its romantic and charming in a very strange way. The Moroccan Sahara is unmissable. We drove from Marrakech through Ouarzazate into the Sahara. Had a camp night under the Saharan skies. Entertained by a Berber band fusing local and rock rhythms. The food prepared in Tajines were exotic. Memories of a life time.

WHAT A DRIVE
Apr 2019 • Couples
Very glad someone else was driving as it was a very switch back road and very tight corners but views are impressive

Merzouga Dunes.
Jan 2019 • Solo
Travelled to Erfoud and then by 4X4 to the Merouga Dunes in the afternoon. Spend time on the dunes making photographs until the sun had set. Amazing light and shadows across the sands. Magical time of day. And then the clear night sky before leaving.

Better than expected
Dec 2018 • Friends
The weather was perfect, warm during the daytime and not a cloud in the sky. Left on a 4x4 and camel ride to see the sunset from a sand dune ridge, back on the camel to our a tent camp hidden in the sand dunes. My tent room had a king size bed, western flush toilet, shower and sink, power plugs on the carpeted floor. Had welcome drinks, bon fire, music/dance and dinner w/ entertainment and bf. Saw the amazingly clear sky and several shooting stars. Walked around at night and before dawn in the sand dunes. Saw others in the cold on camel to see the sun rise.
It was all arranged by Gate 1 Travel for all inclusive 15 day trip in Morocco from USA for a small group of 21.

Camel ride and night in the Dessert.
Dec 2018 • Friends
I'm with a group of 7 and through Couchsurfing we met Youssef Ouazza from Merzouga. He did organized a dessert trip for us. The camel ride was wonderful we were very fortunate with the weather. The  campsite was wonderful and very luxurious. We were served a very tasty dinner one of the best we did eat since arriving in Morocco.  We happened to be the only guests at the camp, which added to the exclusive feeling.
A wonderfull experience authentique, personal, we had a lot of fun with Youssef and the others who were with him. Thanks Youssef.
