Allthough some guide books speak greatly about this lake, it is actually only a couple of months a lake with birds. We were there at the beginning of May and you could only see camels grazing a bit in a vast open area. So come...More

After the desert the vista of blue water that appeared suddenly took me by surprise. There wasn't a lot of water, but it feels like it's in the middle of the desert and shouldn't be there anyway. We only looked from the distance of the...More

As we drove along the way we saw this beautiful lake but we didn't stop by for visit . But it's a lovely view of blue color of the lake and beige color of the sands blends in well together . So serene .

It seemed very out of place to see this lake in the middle of a desert. We only viewed it from the road in passing.

The lake is nothing compared to the dunes but it can be a relaxing drive in the area, especially on a cloudy day, that will not offer you the chance to see the sunset or sunrise.

The lake was dry due to the lake of rainfall lately . So save yourself the expense and trip to check the level of water as this also effects the animals that visit to drink.

Note that it is not called the Lake of Merzouga but Lake Dayet Sriji. Originally, once upon a time, this lake was salt lake, but not anymore because of the rain and also that they release water from the dam in Errachidia if it rains...More
