The bronze monument to one of the greatest Russian commanders, Generalissimo A. V. Suvorov, who, during his long career, did not suffer a single defeat and glorified Russian weapons, winning not by number, but by skill, often against over significantly superior enemy forces in wars with Turks, Germans, Poles, French. Any historian of military affairs knows about Rymnik, Izmail and the Swiss campaign. Largely thanks to him, Pridnestrovie returned to Russia, and it was he who founded Tiraspol. This monument is recognized as the best equestrian monument to Suvorov in the world. It is one of the symbols not only of the city, but of the entire Pridnestrovie. A must-see for all guests of the capital.

We caught the train at 07.09 from Chisinau Station (return 21.10) for £4 each. Most of the Communist era buildings are still in pristine condition in 25th October Street. It is about 20 minutes walk from Tirasopol station.Dont forget your entry visa at the counter as you enter the ticket hall.Jus to the right of the station exit is a currency exchange to pick up Transdnistrian roubles. We struggled to spend £25.We saw the Suvorov Monument,Tank Monument,House of Soviets,Supreme Soviet,The Christmas Cathedral and lots more.We stopped for breakfast in the lovely Vita Dolce cafe.We the caught the 19 bus to Bendery to see the splendid rebuilt Bender Fortress-be careful have small notes or you will be chucked off like us!The fortress and Bendery are very interesting.Go in the fortress cafe for a 3 pint bottle of Baltika 7!We spent our last notes in the Locomotive bar outside Tirasopol station with the locals and Helen the owner.

Not a chance of missing this one while in Tiraspol as it can be seen literally from everywhere. A riding statue, at least it has some dynamics.

Sited next to the river, this moving monument is to those who lost their lives in the 1990-1992 conflict between Trans Dniester and Moldova. As you move up the tiered site, you can almost feel the pain of the shrouded marble figure with outreached arms. Also on the site are a small tank and a beautiful gold-domed Orthodox chapel.

The monument is in center of Tiraspol and around it there are many flags of places that I still have yet to discover what they mean. It is near the tank.

As the title implies, the statue is a statue and by that not super interesting. Actually, the Lenin statues close by are far better, because where could you still find them else? And thats already the charming part of Tiraspol. It is like a time travel. The shopping streets have the latest shops and stuff, but the city itself seems a bit lost in the last stages of the soviet area. So wander the streets, enjoy some good food, take a walk along the river, marvel upon some of the buildings, sip a Kvint (it is actually not that bad), and enjoy a part of a country that thrives peacefully for indipendence. Oh, and don't forget to get some of the plastic coins.
Important note: I have heard and read several rumors about police officers that try to get bribes by accusing tourists of whatever deeds, strong border controls, weird military people bullying tourists, etc. I have seen maybe three soldiers and one police officer, was never even looked at, and passed the border with only the question for the duration of stay (give it a day extra to be save) and the hotel. So even though this might have been an issue in the past, I did not experience anything negative. Just be careful with the 4-star hotels, they might be not as 4-star as you would imagine.

In all of the pictures I see of Transnistria, this monument is included. It is a free site and is located on the main strip through the city, across from the war memorial. It is an impressive monument and a great one dedicated to the victorious general. It’s easy to find and can be walked up to easily for a photo op.

The monument can be found on the main street of Tiraspol, you can't miss, because it is large. It shows the founder of the city.
