Our safari guide took us on an incredibly beautiful area: Khazali canyon. It is a 100 narrow area with petroglyphs depicting humans( even women giving birth) and animals and Islamic,Talmudic and Nabatean inscriptions. Our guide -Abdel Karim- even if he was very young was very professional and well informed. Wear comfortable sport shoes since the path is very narrow.

This canyon is related to the Wadi Rum area. The canyon has petroglyphs (rock carvings) with animals and humans, with writing in ancient scripts. Many of the native animals are no longer found wild in the area. It's likely that the petroglyphs are thousands of years old. By the way, a wadi is a dried watercourse that fills up once in a blue moon and a jebel is a mountain.

The mountain located at the protected area of Wadi Rum (Rum valley) has a narrow short canyon, its inner walls are covered with numerous Nabatean, Islamic (Kufic), and Thamudic inscriptions and petroglyph rock drawings. we were told that at the end of the canyon there are several man-made water pools to collect rainwater, we did not have the chance to see them.

Most visitors only enter the beginning of the canyon. 50 meters of walking. The canyon ahead is only for mountaineers. A nice place for those who only want to see. Those who are interested in a real hike are better off getting to Borda Bridge

Another beautiful sight within the desert. The canyon is small with narrow passageway. There are some carvings/artwork on the rocks. Lovely rock formation worth a look. Some of our older group members found the walkway a little tricky...but they had mobility issues. I thought it was quite ok to walk into the canyon. Just take your time.

This time we not just visited the short popular canyon, but also hiked and rappelled on and in the nice mountain. This extreme hiking takes about one or two days. We started at the East side of the mountain climbing up and in the end streamed out from the main Khazali Canyon out. This tour is not so popular in Wadi Rum. It is more canyoning than rock climbing, but it is beautiful place with many fun.

Amazing location in the middle of the desert in Wadi Rum protected area. There is a canyon that you can walk through. It is about 20-30-minute walk.

Ascent of Jebel Khazali along Sabah route and abseil descent into main Khazali canyon is an incredible and complex adventure. Definitely full day excursion. Only for guided teams (if beginners) or experienced climbers. More difficult after heavy rains becvause you're forced to rock climb or swing-rappel to avoid swimming in the water holes. Impossible and absolutely dangerous during rain.

This is a great place to explore.There are gaps in between huge rocks and you can climb some of them to see the wonderful drawings made by the Nabeteans!

We can't differentiate it much but the locals do. We didn't bother much to differentiate one from another just soaked it all in.
