Very interesting piece of history

There is a recorded history of Trumpledor and Tel Hai that you can (and should) listen to on the site, in English or Hebrew. The lion statue is impressive. The views are breathtaking

A important part of Israel History
Jan 2020
Yosef Trumpeldor is a legendary character in Israel History, a Russian Officer who came to live in Israel but essentially to fight for his country..
The North is part of Israel probably thanks to him and his sacrifice.
He is also known for having said while dying when the fort was attacked in 1920: "It is good to die for Your Country".
Heavy words, heavy significance that many of the Israeli young people and even famous singers laugh about.
An education problem that is our fault, the older ones that haven't given to the history of this struggling country the part it deserves at school and in our families.
Tel Hai is all about Trumpeldor and it is important that we visit this site and teach our children about him.

Sad story
Dec 2017 • Couples
An important, but sad, story of the early days of Israel. Very emotional, and the site expresses the sadness. There are restrooms available near the parking lot.

Lantern tour
Oct 2017 • Family
We took the famiy including grandchildren between 5-15 for an eveni g tour with lanterns of the historic Tel Hai courtyard. The tour tells the story of the pioneers and their struggle with environmental conditions and enemies. The 1.5 hour tour is interactive and caters for the whole family. Very educational and enjoyable.

Could only happen in Israel

Before you go to Tel Hai you will have read the story of Joseph Trumpeldour (spelling ?) a russian army officer who helped set up Tel Hai,....only for Arabs in the area to attack the settlement, culminating in a battle in which he was mortally wounded. A critical part of the story is how the survivors took Trumpleldour up a path of some 1.5 kms up to Kibbutz Giladi where he passed away. This path is beautiful , goes upwards through a canyon and the path has been laid along its length. Anyway ...after visiting the Tel Hai museum which is reasonable we went to walk up the path to the Kibbutz ....gate locked. Eventually we find the car park attendant who says , although he has the key, its not his job to unlock the gate ( only in Israel) .....big argument, raised voices....eventually he opens the gate and we enjoy a beautiful walk.....so Tel HaI museum if you are reading this ...respond by telling Trip Advisor readers that the walk is open and let them enjoy this beautiful walk and important part of Israels history.

Guided tour in Tel-Hai museum
Jun 2017 • Couples
We were lucky to join a guided tour in the Tel-Hai museum, given for a tour guide course in English.
The museum's director himself gave us the hour and a half tour. He is considered one of the most knowledgeable people on the topic.
Even "veteran" Israelis like us learned a lot about the historic story of the fall of Tel-Hai and Joseph Trumpeldor's heroic stand.
A MUST visit for anyone interested in Jewish modern history.

A highly Important site reflecting the early history of the State of Israel
Dec 2015 • Family
A plot purchased for Jewish settlement that was attacked and destroeyd by Arabs in 1920. The last words of its Jewish commander, Yosef Trumpeldor, were "Oh well, it is good to die for the country". This statement would become a famous phrase in the Zionist movement. The site developed about a decade ago into an impressive visitors center, using high-tech visuals and videos to illustrate daily life at the pionneers farm, and the battle that brought it to an end. A highly recommended experience for any one interested in the History of the State of Israel!
