The second national museum in Iran
May 2019
The Museum of Azerbaijan is one of the most important Iranian museums located in the city of Tabriz and beside the Blue Mosque. The museum, known as the second Iranian archaeological museum after the National Museum of Iran, has been exhibited in historical and artistic works of pre-Islamic and Islamic times.

French archaeologist André Godard has prepared a proposed map of the Museum of Azerbaijan, inspired by local architecture in Azerbaijan, and has been depicted by Ismail Dibaj, chairman of the Tabriz Culture Directorate. The museum was officially launched in 1962. The Azerbaijani Museum consists of 3 auditoriums with an area of 800 square meters and a hall for displaying coins and historic stamps on the first floor.

Went there as a family with kids ranging from ages 8-17. It was really spectacular and a lot of artifacts are well over 2000 years old! Kids of all ages will find it fascinating and the guide said it’s the most important museum in Tabriz. A must for anyone who loves history and would like to learn more about Iran. Overall great experience. Staff is very friendly and helpful too.

Interesting

It mostly contains objects discovered from excavations in Iranian Azerbaijan, also some artworks and sculptures of artists. Apart from National Museum of Iran in Tehran, Azerbaijan Museum has the largest collection belonging to different periods of Iran's history.
You will have lots of useful information about Iran history.

Good exhibits from Urartic period, some Luristan bronzes, and a number of others. Good signage. Excellent bookshop especially for books in Farsi, but I also found books in English that were nice to have.

The museum belongs to the history of Azerbaijan and has very few objects of Azerbaijani history

The museum is located near the water mosque. Inside the museum there were very old objects from the Bronze Age to the time of the Qajar dynasty, not much of which belonged to Azerbaijan, and in archeological discoveries in other parts of Iran, including Hamedan and Lorestan. .. Discovered and presented to the museum for display. The museum's guide has a small amount of information.Inside the courtyard of this museum are ancient pieces of stone

Name of museum is Azarbaijan but it also provides information about ancient history of Iran. Great sculptures and huse carvings on stones are eye catching in addition to coin collection of different ages of which Pahlavi was missed!
Kabood mosque is very close to this museum and visitors can visit both in a schedule.
