As usuall I guide a tourist who is shocked when he heard about this untouched potential of Tabriz! Easy to reach but to enter the inside of hills you need a person to show the best possible way.
This colorful mountain is created due to the pressure abd the oxiding the mineral soil during the thousands of years. Don't forget that this unique phenomena is possible to explored just in China and Peru. So if you are in Tabriz you could easily discover it cheaply!

We went on a short trip to Tabriz for my cousin weeding ceremony. The road between Zanjan and Tabriz was mesmerizing. Around Bostanabad we saw interesting colorful mountains with different lithology characteristics. Green Marls, red Shales and ….. especially the cloudy sky was amazing.

Our driver suggested this road less traveled and he was so right. This is a lovely spot for a picnic. Stock up on fruit (watermelons and Persian melons are available fresh from trucks along the road) and nuts and drinks and cheese before leaving the main road. The sheep are friendly and will appreciate the melon rinds. Take a nap in the green grass. The sheep won't mind.

These coloured hills just 30km from Tabriz (near Khajeh) are a great place to come and explore for a couple of hours. Surprisingly their is no signage, information or infrastructure for this great sight but if you take a taxi 2 kilometres past Khajeh you will find the hills for yourself.
It only cost us 35k toman for a private taxi from Tabriz and we were easily able to hitchhike back into Tabriz a few hours later 😁

A quick trip from Tabriz for 2 hrs should do the trick with these wonderful mtns....$30 USD
The usual trip is up the main road however ask the taxi to take you as far as Narhbrand village in which you will pass the dam of the same name....Mars like scenery. Nice!!
The Tabriz colored mtns are only beaten by the exceptional colored mtns on the Marneshan to main hwy road....maybe 60klms on both side in various colors. Wow !

This place is just stunning..I would have never thought I could find a place like this but Iran has and it's just 20-25 minutes east of Tabriz. Colourful mountains ( better call them hills..) will be one of the most beautiful places you'll have the chance to see in Iran and what is quite strange, few people know about them..apparently even people from Tabriz! The best thing you can do is to book a good tour (usually the Info Tourist point, next to the bazar organises them ) If you are 2-3 people the price will be ridicolous..around 6-7 eu each. Alone should be around 25 eu but believe me, you won't regret the spending. The best time to visit the hills is around early afternoon when the sunlight is not as strong as it is during the morning but strong enough to enlight the hills which have different colours: red, white, yellow, brown,black..simply amazing

Aladagh Lar or the colorful mountain is one of the Natural Phenomenal Creation that is located 25 km Northeast of Tabriz, on the way to Khajeh city. Through your Journey to rare Aladagh Lar, it seems that you are watching a landscape from another planet. Take short stop en-route to take picturesque photos and enjoy this earthly rainbow.
