Amazing stucture

According to Wikipedia; Arg of Tabriz is the remnants of a large acropolis fortification (whence the metathetic name ark/arg=acro+polis)and city wall in downtown Tabriz. Ark's structure is visible from far distances in downtown of Tabriz, if not blocked by newly high raised building.
The structure was initially a compound, containing a great vaulted mosque, adjoining prayer halls and libraries, a vast courtyard containing a huge reflecting pool, and a mausoleum-- all surrounded by a containing wall. It was built in 14th century during the Ilkhanate era. The point of pride for the building was that its vaulted ayvan was larger than the famous historic vault of Chosroes/Kisra or the Taq Kisra at Ctesiphon/Mada'in. However, with the sudden death of the governor of the city and with some construction complications in constructing a roofed building without pillar for such a huge complex, the mausoleum structure remained incomplete. In the 19th century with the rise of tensions between Iran and Russia the structure rapidly turned into the city's fort and additional military installations such as a barracks and cannon foundry were added to the original structure. During the twentieth century the military installations were removed from original construction and the surrounding of the ark turned into a park. In the late twentieth century a big mosque was built next to the citadel.

The Great Wall
May 2019
Arg of Tabriz (Arg Alishah) is said to be the remains of the south porch of the citadel of Alishah in the city of Tabriz. The foundation of the first citadel dates back to the eighth century when a large unfinished construction was completed with the aim of building a mosque. In the following years, using the walls left over from the foundation of the first mosque, a military tomb was built instead, which for years was used as a military barracks and the southern part of the city wall.

Ark Tower
Sep 2018
Ark is one of the old places in Tabriz, the construction was done without any vehicle, and when you reach it you just feel like you see a wall, but if you reach to the top, you can find the entrance, there were also some ceremonies held in there, like operas. now some parts are destroyed in order for a mosque to be built.

Ark of Ali Shah was a grate mosque with 4 altars. It is built 700 years ago and its 10 meters wide walls steel remains. It was the highest building in Tabriz in the past. Also it had a grate theater hall. Most of the citadel is destroyed by quakes and wars. However, it has its beauty and glories steel.

Abandoned and destroyed

Ark Ali Shah One of the symbols and gates of the entrance of Tabriz has been in the old days. It is made of brick, from which the gate remains only this symbol, which is also being destroyed. Next to this gate was built a modern-day mosque that It is totally irrelevant to this symbol.

The Ark of Ali Shah is another symbol of Tabriz. To visit this brickwork, you can enter the courtyard from the street across Ferdowsi Street and from the street of Ark on Taleghani Street. The ark foundation has been part of a huge and massive building. This is a mosque in the northern part of the Ark. It took place around the landscaping around it. Part of the courtyard is used as a parking. In the old photograph I had seen from this building, there was a park around it that did not appear to be visible.

Ark Alishah was one of the main fortresses in the very old days to protect Tabriz from the enemies. Now, only a small fraction of the majestic structure remains which stills gives a sense of grandeur and owe to the visitor. Unfortunately, due to excessive building nearby, the authenticity of the building has been seriously stained and spoiled. Nevertheless, it is a place to be visited in Tabriz.

As the only pieces of and old architectural masterpiece, it deserves the attention unpaid, waiting for your cameras to be depicted on its verge of death with its tragic history. Visit it... ironically needs an attention you will understand when you visit deserves the attention unpaid, waiting for your cameras to be depicted on its verge of death with its tragic history. Big monument
Nov 2017 • Solo
It’s a big palace made from bricks. There was no one around the place because it has been repaired. They were making stairs and new facilities for next year. It was quite dangerous as it was in repairing situation. But after all it’s really good place to visit and is a massive monument.
