Rocky village in North west of Iran
May 2020
When it comes to rocky villages, everyone think about Capadocia (same as me haha) but this stunning villages located near the Tabriz city is really remarkable in Iran traditional villages. I stayed in rocky village for one night as well which boost up my exotic feeling.

Amazing Rocky Village in Iran
May 2020
In Iran, there are two inhabited rocky villages, Meymand and Kandovan. Kandovan, located in northwestern Iran, is like Cappadocia in Turkey but less crowded and more pristine.
With about 800-year antiquity, Kandovan, with its rocky settlements, stands at an altitude of 2200 meters above sea level and 60 kilometers from Tabriz city. Please note that Kandovan has cold weather, so you'd better travel to this village in summer.
Notably, Kandovan mineral water spring is one of Iran's best mineral water for its healing properties and is available to the public through several taps in the village. You can even buy the water of this spring in Tabriz.
Finally, there are small and colorful souvenir shops in Kandovan.

Unique accommodation
Nov 2019 • Family
This hotel is a unique and boutique hotel in north eastern of Iran in kandovan village very close to Tabriz ( central of North eastern Azerbaijan province.
You could have good feel when you stay at this hotel like as a " caveman " because all of accommodation place located inside a stone mountain like as cave.
Many of this room have a privet jacuzzi (warm water from spring) and you could enjoy more fringe your stay.
Service is not like as 5star hotel but this is acceptable and important points is this hotel have good and professional manger that hearing good to your complain or suggestions.
Break fast is very poor.
I was so happy to stay at this hotel .

UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE
Nov 2019
One of the most amazing places I have visited because it is so unique in the world. If you are into geology, archeology, sociology, architecture, and anything else related to humans and their habitats you will see and learn things you will not get anywhere else. The nature is so beautiful. It is changing as we speak and if you have the opportunity to see it go before it really does. A must see.

Stone houses which blocked with new and ugly buildings
Jan 2020
Although there are stone houses which are special and fabulous, new and ugly buildings block the view, you can't see any stone house unless you watch from a far distance. I think the government can change this beautiful village to a more touristy and clean place.

Stone handmade houses
Apr 2019
It is very interesting to see how people in this village carved the stones and rocks to build their houses. Unfortunately nowadays you may not see an intact village life in Kandovan, but the beautiful stone houses is still there.

Different experience
Nov 2019 • Couples
I didn’t have such an experience before. Cold weather outside but hot jacuzzi inside.
We arrived at the hotel at 10:30 PM, the weather was cold.
Hotel gave us the best room in the hotel, Number 112, it was a duplex room and the jacuzzi was at 2nd floor.
The room was not so clean, we were 2 couples. Our room was good but the second room was messy, they have difficulty with their WC too.
The service was normal and the breakfast was so ordinary.
The only thing that i enjoyed the most was the jacuzzi, the Hot mineral water and the calmness.
It’s a good place for having tranquility & peace.
Also the room was so cute, built in the heart of the mountain cliffs.

Not to be avoided under any circumstances
Jun 2019
A fabulous village with wonderful houses hollowed out in the rocks. It makes an amazing impression, it is nice to roam the streets when there are not many tourists there. Of course, as a big tourist attraction there are many in general.

And the people do live in the hamlet
Oct 2019
Göreme in Turkey has been transferred into museum and plenty of modern brick walls have spoilt Grime. Go to UNESCO WHS Kandovan and you will be positively surprised by the normal daily life in the village (e.g. drying freshly collected walnuts ). Even the trip from Tabriz through the mountains to Kandovan is a rewarding experience

Not to be missed!
Aug 2019
I went for a few hours trip to the village of Kandovan in August. This place is very popular with locals and it's only an hour or so away from Tabriz.
It made quite an impression on me and I did enjoy it a lot. It's a village carved into the mountain. There are people who lives in those cave like rooms and these are available to rent for the night or more, for a fair price.
This is beautiful place, you will get a nice photo shots, you will meet a lot of people and you could purchase some sweets and souvenirs, that aren't available anywhere else.
This is one of my favourite places in the whole of Iran and it's the one not to be missed. 10/10
