A village filled with historic story and heritage. Fun time strolling the village, sight seeing, taking pictures because it was rare to see how the whole community work and how close they are.

We dropped by at this Batak Traditional village before we checked in the Toledo in at the other side of the island Here we can see the King Sidabutar tomb and its relatives. The boat took 40 minutes to reach this village, This is the famous village among 300 villages on the Samosir island.Be careful when you shop here. Do bargain until the minimum price.

The village itself is a short walk from where we parked the car. The tour of the tombs was interesting, On the way back, you can shop for souvenirs and traditional outfits, but always remember to bargain as they have the tendency to hike their prices for tourists.

This was my first trip to Samosir Island. I went to there with my family and without tourist guide, only relied on information from internet and GPS. Unfortunately, When i arrived at the village the internet connection was very terrible :(. I thought that the samosir island that is one of the most popular tourist attractions should have had excellent internet network. Therefore, our plans for exploring Samosir island is failed. We only visited makam raja sidabutar, museum batak samosir, and tarian sigale-sigale. We paid IDR 80,000/tourist group. The dance is less than 10 minutes. Overall, I think the government must maintain the tourism in Samosir Island.

Went to Tomok Village and also the marketplace. The whole stretch consists of souvenir shops ranging to keychains, handicrafts to traditional apparels.
About 150 meters from the main entrance you will be greeted with The Batak Traditional Performance and Dance. We just observe from afar though a curtain will cover the performance area once the show begins.
Another 50 meters walk ahead will lead you to The Batak King Tomb. No entrance fee but tipping is encouraged.
Another 50 meters ahead will lead you to Batak Museum. A historical and Cultural Museum which explains about the Batak Tribe of Toba. Entrance fee is 5000 rupiah per person.

If you spend two weeks on Samosir and need a bit of purpose, hire a scooter and take a trip to Tomok’s stone tombs. Be prepared for a long array of souvenir shops offering more or less identical stuff, then proceed to the tombs and get a glimpse of traditional Batak culture. If you have little time and miss out on it, don’t feel bad either ;)

So definitely drop by this Village. It's kind of an all-in type experience. Mostly shopping in the "market" for souvenirs and there's a Batak dance, some tombs and a museum in the village area. All by convenient walking distance. I would recommend this place if you had only a day or so in Samosir.

Nothing to see. Not worth it. Has cheap shacks on roadside with nothing special. Better to spend time going on hiking trail.
