Its a mixed of traditional market, they sell dried salty fish and snack on the first floor. You can try the snack and choose which one you like to buy. On second floor they have bedding store, kitchen hardware, glass and ceramics, broch and some import snack from Malaysia with cheaper price than the store. Nearby the market so many tasty foodstall like sate padang. Behind the market there is also nasi kapau shop.

This place has lots of small shops selling fabrics and local snacks (chips and crisps). However the condition needs major upgrades.

1. Make it more attractive to tourists.
2. Make path in between shops bigger so that people can walk easily
3. Make it cleaner
4. Provide better parking spot

This is a traditional market at Pekanbaru where it sells interesting souvenirs (ceramics, carpets, etc). You may find different things but also with different prices, so always recheck to other stores & always bargain to the price. Not very comfy for those who prefer AC, but again this is a traditional market.

Old traditional market that has everything that you might looking for.

The only minus things about this place was... it's too crowded and the place doesn't have a good air circulation inside the building. Narrow spaces between shops which make it difficult to walk comfortably.

During any emergency, it would be hard for people to go out quickly from the building and escape.

The vegetables and fruits were fresh. Their prices very competitive (much much cheaper than any other mini markets in town).

The check out cashier was fast. They even helped with carrying groceries to the car.

More parking lots available behind the building.

Crowded in the evening and weekends.

Like any other city, this is Pekanbaru's Tanah Abang or you could see bargain market with plenty of options around and lots of choices and bargains to make. As compared to the posh show rooms of Jalan Sudirman for sure you would get better prices and perhaps better varieties too for all commonly available items. Carpets are a favourite shopping idea here, kitchen ware, table ware, show case items, vintage items, etc etc. of course you miss the posh look and salubrious environment as compared to a posh show room in the malls but pockets save a lot of money. For a simple comparison, I had a bargain purchase of almost five different variety carpets for 3.3 million rupiah, which would have cost me a cool 5 million IDR elsewhere in malls or showrooms......but beware of quality imitations, lesser known names, etc. Crowded place and beware of your belongings and goods in cars.

easy to find, quite clean, but if you come here by car, you need to push your luck to find empty space to park your car. if you succeed parking your car, the rest is piece of cake.
you can find many things here, starting from snacks, souvenirs, clothes, travel bags, glass and crystal wares, carpets, etc.
but this place is famous for it's snacks. you can find various snacks from malaysia or traditional (signature) food of pekanbaru with affordable price.

note: no air conditioner and watch out for pickpockets
