Have your meal at one of the restaurants there and view the nice scenery. Prices for the meal are relatively inexpensive and in buffet style.

I'll admit, this climb was my boyfriends idea. And it is quite tough as you get near to the top. But once you're up there with the views and sunrise it really is amazing. The climb back down was quite slippery but really funny, so...More

Batur sunrise is the greatest tour opportunity tour attraction in Bali especially for the sunrise from Both Toya Bungkah and Bukit Catu because the location is on the east of the mountain and through the sunrise point views

To view Mount Batur hiking in early morning not essential. You can visit in day time too to have a view from view gallery.

We used a trek company to provide the guides up to the summit, taking the "quick easy" way we scrambled up old lava flows and beaten trails for around 2 hours. The hike was relatively moderate to hard in difficulty, robust and sturdy shoes a...More

We hired a private taxi during our stay to Bali. One of the stops was at a restaurant where we could see the beautiful views. Unless you want to hike to the top there is very little else to do here. We paid IDR30,000 each...More

We arranged a pickup from our hotel through email. We met our guide at base of the volcano in the darkness. He provided us with torches and 2 bottles of water each! We set off about 3 am! I found the hike fairly tough, but...More

Mt. Batur is a wonderful hike, there is a lot of people, but it is still enjoyable to trek up and the view from the top is amazing… you may get lucky/unlucky regarding the clouds but it’s worth it no matter what… Relatively easy and...More

Absolutely worth the early wake up and trek up. There are a few negatives to be aware of though: we ended up with a guide who could barely speak English which made things a bit harder - I think we could have easily asked to...More

We are currently living in Jakarta and my understanding is that Mount Batur is still open to trekking. The best thing to do would be to contact one of the many tour agencies that organise treks for up to date information.

Yes- but for safety reason, it's good to go with a tour guide. But if you have experience with trekking, you should be fine. We went with a guide, but there were people who went on their own.

Mt Batur Regular trip; official price for a guide maximum for five guests 5 cost you Rp 400.000, Government tax Rp 100.000/pax. If you paid more than that you are cheated.
