Mount Batur is an active volcano located at the center of two concentric calderas north west of Mount Agung Bali. The south east side of the larger 10×13 km caldera contains a caldera lake. The inner 7.5-kilometer-wide caldera, which was formed during emplacement of the Bali, has been dated at about 23,670 and 28,500 years ago. Wayan Budiawan was an excellent guide who was very knowledgeable, entertaining, kind and extremely helpful throughout the hike. The view from the top of Mount Batur overlooking Mount Agung and Lake Batur was breathtaking and we would recommend every adventurous traveller to give this hike a go. Gede Artha, our driver was also excellent in taking us to an incredible breakfast spot with an unreal view and a coffee plantation with the best coffee I have ever tasted. We would give this tour 10/10 and it has been the highlight of our Bali trip!!!

The communication before each trip was very clear. Gede also sent me some pictures when I wanted some other details. It was very helpful.
We (me and my fiancée) did 2 trips with them and it was 5* experience. Both trips were with the best driver and most funny guy Putu A. We liked him very much.
1st trip was personalized based on places we wanted to see with 2 extra stops (suggested by Putu) for coffee (at beautiful plantation) and for lunch (at very amazing restaurant with breathtaking view and bufet food).
2nd trip was sunrise treking. It was very nice experience, we went at 2:30 from Ubud to the starting point. We were up on Batur 1 hour before the sunrise so we saw all the different colors of sky before sun comes. Afterwareds we went to amazing (!!!) breakfast, which was included in the price. Then we had rafting on Telaga Waja. It was almost 3 hours of good fun, we didn't paddle much, but it was a great fun. After that, we got a bufet lunch, the food was spicy, but fine. For this trip, we could also add hot springs and/or coffee plantation, but we decided to do just that.
To sum up, I will recommend this company to all my friends comming to Bali, because this company is great from the very 1st message to the last drop off at our hotel. All of it for very reasonable prices!

Ketut Mangku was amazing

Picked up very promptly by putu who was happy and got us there no problem.
Ketut Mangku was our guide who was incredible! Went at our pace, ensured we had an amazing view, took some amazing photos for us, where he knows how to work nature into the shots, and gave us loads of information about the area and mountain.
Would hugely recommend Ketut to anyone, specifically ask for him if you are thinking of doing this trip!

Amazing family adventure

Wayan, Jero and our driver Arya made the most incredible adventure for us. Our 3 kids - 6, 9 and 10 were able to easily make it to the top of Mt Batur for the amazing views with the support of Wayan and Jero helping ever step of the way. They were always looking out for their safety and we were very comfortable and appreciated their care. They provided great humour and information. Our kids loved having their eggs cooked in the volcano sand. We got some brilliant photos thanks to Wayan and his very creative shots that he knew to get.
Pickup and transport was excellent and the breakfast was top notch.
Thank you for creating a lifelong family adventure memory and sending through the photos and video that you took.

Amazing place

This was an amazing morning of trekking up the volcano. But I have to say it is a lot harder then a lot of people make up, I am at the gym every day and still I was out of breath at some points. DO NOT buy/rent a warm jacket at the start as you will not need it as you soon warm up walking up the hill. I would recommend taking a light wind proof jacket in a bag for when you reach the top and wait for the sun.

A memorable and beautiful hike

My girlfriend and I stayed in Ubud and did the sunrise hike. We woke up very early but it was well worth it. The driver pick up and drop off was seamless and our guide, Ketut, was really great. He was friendly, knowledgeable, accommodating and knew all the best spots. He was also really great at taking pictures! He cooked us hard boiled eggs in the volcano steam vents too- very cool! The view was unbelievably amazing and the experience was one that we won’t soon forget.

Incredible tour!

What a wonderful tour! My driver Puta and guide (can’t remember his name) were absolutely incredible! I’m a solo female traveler and the company sent me a picture of my driver and his car after I booked. My guide was so patient with me and very watchful to make sure we were safe on the mountain. I will definitely be doing this tour with them again. Thank you for night I’ll never forget!

Your enjoyment depends on your tour operator and group

I was disappointed with both my tour agency (Uma Kutuh Sunrise Trekking Tour) and my fellow trekkers. The issue with the tour company was that the guides leading us up the mountain didn't speak English so we didn't get a proper introduction to the climb or receive any information about the history and environment of the volcano and surrounding area. In addition, they couldn't communicate how much farther it was to the summit or how long we'd have once we reached it. Disappointing. And my group was disappointing, too. Even though they were half my age, they were horribly unfit and took a long time to climb, jeopardizing our chances of getting to the summit by sunrise. I ended up bailing on them so that I could hustle to the summit in time. It didn't help that the tour guides couldn't communicate how much farther they had to go. I guess it was worth it, but I do feel like I could have left it.

That company base on sharing tour. Our page is private property belong to this website below not Mount Batur Sunrise Trekking in general. after discovered your post ,I'm very much sure that your name not in our list. We don't have any booking under your name. We only do Private tour, no multiple pick up from different guest's accommodation. Book online directly to our website below mean we will deliver our services and promised. Our services base on Private car and private hiking guide separated with other group. Using our service will pick starting point from less crowd which is located at eastern part of the volcano so not busy trek and less loose rock . Starting point from regular base will crowded especially at peak season (December to January ) and high season (July to September ) We provide buffet breakfast after the hike (about 20 minutes drive from base camp )not on the top except on special requests. Once again booking with us free to wear jacket it's included in the prices. Coffee or tea or hot chocolate on the top of the volcano also included in the prices. No hidden costs. This trekking is Doable and even easier when we provide private guide that could help you. Everything was absolutely perfect, from the bottom to the top.
The trek is quite difficult but it’s an interesting adventure to do this by night.
When you arrive at the top you have a breakfast and you just have to wait for the show to begin. The sunrise on the Agung is incredible, pure moment of peace.
After that, you go on the crests and the landscape is breathtaking.
You also go near the crater and can test the steam coming from the rocks, as if you were in a sauna.
Then, you go down which is a nice time too, full of nature and calm.
I highly recommend this activity, even though there are lots of people.
Just don’t go on July or August but more on September.

Theres not much I will get out of bed at 2am for but this is definitely it. The hike is pretty intense uphill the entire 2 hours but so worth it for the gorgeous sunrise. The advice I wish we had: wear layers or pack a sweater in your bag. We were sweating the whole way up because of the intensity but as soon as you reach the top it's so cold and dark and windy. Would have paid anything for a fleecy zip sweater. You wait for sunrise for a good 30-45 minutes so it's a long time to be shivering!
