Vung Tau Martyr's Memorial
Jun 2019 • Business
Vung Tau Martyr's Memorial it is located in a big roundabout across the Lotte Mark shopping mall. There's not much to see but it offers the possibility to escape from the frantic traffic and seat and relax

Worth a Quick Stop

My experience of travelling South East Asia tells me that these things are best viewed at night time due to them being lit up.

We finished our dinner and headed on the motorbike to the War Heroes Shrine. 5,000 Dong to park but we found a car park where no one was charging. Oh, well!

It’s a nice monument in the middle of a large roundabout with well-kept gardens and a fountain area with writing in the background about something socialist.

There were a few questionable ladies hanging around. The type that wears short shorts and low-cut top. We’ll call them ladies of the night.

Other than that it’s nice.

Very big lump of ground nicely landscaped surrounded by a huge roundabout next to the Pullman and Malibu Hotels and Lotte Mart supermarket, very close to Back Beach, after 10pm many questionable ladies of the night hang out here.

It is a grand monument worth visiting

It's really a good experience to witness the cultural history first hand, and not from a possibly biased Western account. This place is worth visiting for that reason alone, but if you have a good guide, as we did, then there is a depth of knowledge passed on that makes it memorable.

Great Monument
Sep 2016 • Solo
If you like walking around sightseeing, this is a great place to visit. The obelisk towers high above Vung Tau and casts a shadow on the gardens and fountain below. Across the street is another part which is a beautifully maintained temple. It has four large pools with fish swimming around in them and many trees on the grounds providing a lot of shade or shelter from the rain, depending on when you visit.
