This memorial was built on what was the site of the MP guarded entrance to 1 Australian Logistic Support Base, Vung Tau during the Vietnam War. It is now a grand memorial to the Vietnamese fallen during this war and as a Vietnam Veteran I honour it. They suffered huge losses at the allies hands but hold no grudge against Australians in particular.

The Martyrs' Memorial, a tribute to the Viet Cong of Baria-Phuoc Tuy Province killed in actions against the Australians, ironically sits where the headquarters of the 1st Australian Logistic Support Unit once stood.
It comprises a high column set in a marble plaza on top of a hill overlooking most of Vung Tau.
On the column is inscribed the equivalent of "Lest We Forget" and commemorates nearly 3,000 local VC killed during the war.

This place is nothing but a giant roundabout decorated with k-propanda. You will risk your life when you cross the road to get into it because of the traffic and the wide road.

You can take nice photos there, but leave the fat guy at the hotel. It is the biggest roundabout in Southeast Asia. It has a beautiful temple on the outside of the circle and a brand new Lotte Mart where you can be treated like a criminal or a cow, depending on your point of view. Take some photos and go have a coffee or a massage nearby.

It is located in the biggest roundabout of Vung Tau. Sometimes after I visit the shopping mall in front of it, I park my motorbike next to the roundabout center - otherwise would be dangerous to cross until there, as there's always traffic of motorbikes and other vehicles and you should be forced to dodge them- and spend a while walking around and sitting on a bench.

In 50 years since the war, so much has changed. We had a guide who showed us before photos, which made it easy to see how things have changed.

It is located in the heart of a monstrous roundabout in front of Pullman hotel. Good to have a 15-minutes-walk if you are nearby and take nice pics at sunset.

I standed on the Martyrs' Memorial and have a nice view about Vung Tau building and people moving in the road. It is a nice place to hang-out for you and your friends.

I went on a quiet weekday. It wasn't all that spectacular for me. The memorial was tipping but the grounds and flowers and trees around it were immaculately kept.
