Lovely building
Whale bones and information very good
Interesting to hear how the fishermen have a three day festival to pay homage to the whale.
Great for kids as well

An unusual attraction, but interesting
Apr 2019
We were a group of 9 visiting the Whale Temple as part of a local Vung Tau and Ba Ria tour, during a port visit from a cruise ship. I would definitely recommend visiting with a tour guide who can provide some history and context, otherwise it would have been difficult to understand what this was all about and why it was significant. It's interesting but 20 minutes is sufficient to see everything here.

The what bones are interesting, but the main attraction is the history of these buildings - build in the late 1800s
Jun 2019
Built in the late 19th century, featuring hand crafted roof tiles synonymous with vietnamese temples, colourful and traditional statues. It is handy to have had a tour around other temples in Vietnam so you understand the significance of the statues and offerings, however if it's your first ever temple visit maybe ask a local guide to take you - you'll learn everything you need to know for all your temple visits!
We found the temple easy to find and an interesting excursion - this attraction runs of donations alone (so get 10000 dong ready when you visit!)

Just a temple, little story, and a whale, boring

Doesn’t offer anything else, I don’t know how it became popular.

Unusual Temple with many bones
Feb 2019
The Whale Temple is a very unusual place. There is a main Temple in the centre and then either side two smaller ones.
The Temple itself is very much like any other Temple until you go inside and there in a glass case is a large collection of whale bones just piled up as the photo shows. Then on top of that there are skulls of other animals/ birds just apparently thrown in for good measure.
It is quite a little gem because it is so unusual. The Whale is seen as a Protector of the Fishermen who fish the local waters. It's well worth half an hour of your time to look round it and acknowledge how different it is from the usual Temple in Asia.

Nice story created about the place to,protect local fishermen, however the temple itself is not very spectacular.

This is a regular place to visit on the tourist map. It was OK but not a lot to spend time and reflect. It is obviously close to the locals and there belief system in the whale as a creature. There are artefacts and of course whale remains.

It is best to have an explanation of why whale bones are displayed/arranged the way they are otherwise it looks like a heap !

Interesting to visit if you are in the area but not worth going a long way out of your way for. We were fortunate to have a good guide to make it more interesting.

Went to this attraction with high expectations, bit of a let down. Quite interesting, but not a great deal to see. Would imagine the festival when they drag a Wale to the Temple would be incredible, but would not expect them to put this on for every bus!
