I had previously visited and reviewed this very fine and world class museum. It was my good fortune to be in Vung Tau last month and by sheer luck, I noticed the signage on my way back to my hotel from the ANZAC footy game.
After being closed for some months to move from the hill behind Halong Street down the road to main street-front premises near the famous Greyhound Racing Track or Lam Son Stadium and affectionately referred to as the Lord Mayor's Oval by local and regional AFL enthusiasts.
The new address is: 98 Tran Hung Dao Street, Vung Tau City.
If you were impressed with the previous display, then you will be overwhelmed by the improvements to the exhibits and the extra pieces on show.
If you are a first time visitor, you would be doing yourself a favour by making time to visit.
It is often said that this museum should be in Ho Chi Minh City or in some exotic capital city of the world. I do not dispute that, but of course, you would then pay at least double for admission. And you would lose the ambience of this unique Vung Tau experience.
Most definitely a gem in the wilderness, waiting to be discovered. And the exhibits? See for yourself!

What a surprise to find such a collection of firearms and weapons of war in such a small city.
It is a museum with a difference. It is a change of pace from the very busy museums in Ho Chi Minh City, which are always very busy and very crowded.
If you visit this arms museum, chances are that you will be the only viewers in the whole building. And I do mean for the whole duration of your visit.
And unlike HCMC, you may also be accorded the luxury of a personal guided tour! Yes, you will probably be escorted around the exhibits by an usherette, who will happily draw your attention to interesting features of arms - albeit in broken English.
In our case, there were two of us so, would you believe that we each had an escort to point out special features and noteworthy background of items being viewed.
They have quite an amazing collection of arms from various parts of the world, including Ancient Greece and Roman and Napoleonic times. They also have items from Japan and China and Europe.
Some are very rare and they claim to have one exhibit which is exclusive to this museum.
Besides the arms, they also have statues of soldiers dressed in period costumes armed with weapons of the day.
A most interesting tour and time well spent. It is the first time I have visited an arms museum. It was fascinating to discover one in Vung Tau!
I commend this museum to you. You will not be disappointed.

Nothing to dislike, at all... Stayed at Lucy's, walsked out the back door up the tracj on the left and there it is, a castle.... Call Bob first, hotels will have his number - to arrange a tour and be prepared to be absolutely gobsmacked that here, in the back streets of Vung Tau, is a comprehensive collection of uniform and weapons and militaria from the Crimean war to today. And I'm proud to have donated some of the small parts of Aussie Army uniforms. If you're ever in Vung Tau, don't miss this...

We were told about this Museum which had recently moved form the hills. The English owner has done all the dressing of the mannequins himself. They are in glass cabinets. It is amazing and we actually met him so he explained a lot about it as he had just finished the Australian room ready for Anzac Day. He now needs war clothes and uniforms from New Zealand to add a NZ area

The museum relocated to 98 Tran Hung Dao street in Vung Tau city. The ticket office is on the left side of the entrance. It was VND 50,000 for adults and VND 35,000 for teenagers (12-y-o and above).
I felt the professional and enthusiasm from every staff here. We met the owner, Robert, during the visit and I personally thank him for sharing the impressive collection with all of us.
There are wide ranges and very well-kept arms. And one of the Dutch riffle is one of the only two still exist in the world. Love the whole room dedicated for Australian Display.
At the souvenir shop at the end, kids could borrow some of the costume with hat and gun to take photos.

This is a huge collection od weapons and militaria, and has no historical bias. Worth the small entry fee.

Brilliant display and for a personal collection this beyond belief . I spoke too the owner who informed me he has a new location and the work is underway for an attraction that will be a must see when your in Vung Tau. I will make sure I am there for the opening , and can sing the praise of this attraction.

Im glad I made the time to visit. The collection is vast and up close so you can appreciate the detail. I do not have a military background nor am I history buff but I still appreciated seeing weapons soldiers uniforms from 450bc through to modern era.

Truly a world class museum, excellent attention to detail. A really great surprise find. Of interest to both those with a military background and the general public.
