We were a group Australian Vietnam veterans many returning to Vietnam for the first time since our tour of duty 1967/1970. Vung Tau is where our base was. Vung Tau had a population of 50,000 now it 350,000. This stadium is where several units from our based played Aussie rules & today there are the Vung Tau swans, Hanoi hawks & the Saigon saints to play today. Yes it is a greyhound track but I thought some readers would like to know this piece of history

If you love dog racing & betting, this is for you. If you are just a visitor, this experience is just something different and fun to have, but not a must-have. Entrance fee is approx. $3 for a few hours watching the 1-lap dog races, which normally takes a few seconds. It's too short that you don't feel excited enough before it's over.

Excellent fun. Betting is easy and much the same as in Australian races, although there is no each-way betting as far as I can tell. Won myself a cool 290,000 on a single race. The 'VIP' entry fee entitles you to access a nice section upstairs with a great view overlooking the winning post.

The dog racing industry is a cruel one. This has recently been inthe news in Austrailia. Quantas and Cathay Pacific will no longer export dogs for the racing industry. It is very well known that this race track is one of the worst in the world. The dogs are kept in poor confined conditions and dogs coming here are coming to a certain early death. Spending your money here only promotes the continuation of this form of animal cruelty. Dogs are routinely mass killed here once they are no longer usefull to make money. Do not go!

I visited this place with my friend and went to the place to see the greyhound racing, it was bad. We saw tired puppies on tile floor for display and sale. The greyhound racing was cruel as we saw some dogs with broken foot digits but were still used for racing.

As long as you don't mind the issue of greyhound racing on moral grounds, then you should enjoy an evening here. The dogs seem fairly well looked after, the betting is pretty easy and simple - and it being Vietnam you can come away having won a million!

It opens on Friday and Saturday evening only. Very cheap entry ticket. Quite exiting. You can choose 3 dogs to put your money for wager. if lucky enough, you can earn money for your journey.

The Racing start at 19:30 so no need to come too early, the entrance fee is 60.000 VND per adult but you should spend some more money to bet.

Good change of scenery to look at some amazingly quick greyhounds. Good atmosphere even though you don't wanna bet on the dogs, you can feel the tension in the crowd when the race is on. Don't really need the VIP tickets though.

These dogs are racing to live.
When these dogs don't win they are butchered. Sold for dog meat, boiled alive, beaten to death or injected with pesticides and suffer agonizing deaths. Vietnam is a country with no Animal Welfare. Cruelty Abuse is rife. SHAME SHAME SHAME on you Vietnam. Don't travel to this country or support events like this.

It is a unfortunate to see that people attend greyhound races without knowing what goes on with these dogs.Lethal injection, death on the race lane, injuries... check before attending. stay informed.
Hey guys do they still race on Friday nights
