About
In a splendid colonial building, the Haiphong Museum concentrates on the city's history. Some displays have English translations and the museum's garden harbours a diverse collection of war detritus.

Some of the archeological exhibits are unique. A dagger from 2500 BC is awesome.
A 2000 year old bronze drum and bronze pails are impressive
They don’t have a huge inventory but what they have is good

Hey, set in a lovely building surrounded by the aircraft of destruction with an interior which bespoke the recent [?] war with America stated from the point of view of the Vietnamese is a small museum that manages to be pretty boring. If you want to see colonial French Architecture, its nice, but otherwise a definite miss/

If you want to learn a little about past and present Haiphong an hour here will be of interest.
It is not the best equipped of museums so one hour will suffice. I was there myself and not a single other visitor.

very limited opening hours, check locally before going

5000 dong entry fee

The main features of this museum are the low entry cost VD5000 and the splendid colonial building in which the exhibits are shown. There are no inter-active elements and the artefacts are displayed in a somewhat traditional manner with mixed explanatory signs, around half of which have English narrative and the rest only in Vietnamese. In a city which is primarily set up for business and manufacture, the Haiphong Museum would rate as one of the main tourist features, even though it is a somewhat limited attraction. In the past it could have been coupled with a visit to the Navy Museum which was formerly nearby on the same street but is no longer open for viewing.

We were there when a whole crowd of police and school children were visiting to learn more about the Paracels from a large exhibition about the islands and the East Sea. All highly political at present with the actions of the Chinese.

We could not see much of what was a fairly text and photographic exhibition but had our photos taken by and with many school children. Also had an interesting discussion with an English speaking non-uniformed officer from the Security and Economic police.

The rest of the museum was closed off because of this specific exhibition. Museums are fascinating places!
