About O'Gallery Lotus Cruise
Our O’Gallery Lotus Cruise is designed with the inspiration from the “lotus d’orient” – a flower symbolizing compassion and wisdom, being gently beautiful without any mediocre competition but bringing an excellently perfection because of both scent and colors. When O’Gallery Lotus cruises her voyage in the bay, it is likened to a fairy scene: a lotus floating on the water.

We booked through the O'Gallery Hotel we were staying at, and having opted for a mid-value cabin received an upgrade to their top cabin for a flat US$50, money well spent. Located near the bow on the top floor, it was very spacious, full windows on two sides, and a massive balcony with circular day beds. And the ensuite was beautifully renovated. So relaxing was the cabin, and the idyllic scenery we passed, that we opted out of more activities than we opted in, only doing the cave visit and enjoying some classic Vietnamese films. While there was plenty more to choose from (kayaking, trekking, beach sunbathing, cooking classes) we preferred to chill out and watch the passing (watery) parade. Don't think I've been so relaxed in decades. The meals were excellent, diverse and fulsome, and while seafood predominated (as you would expect), my partner who has some allergies was able to substitute to chicken or meat without a problem. The banana smoothies were to die for. And the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our only regret was that the cruise was nowhere near long enough - we could easily have spent another week cruising past some of the most magnificent scenery we've seen (and I must also recommend this cruise as it opts for the quieter Lan Na Bay rather than the far more crowded Ha Long Bay). Highly recommended.

This cruise to Ha Long Bay is recommended. We used the cruise package provided by The Oriental Jade Hotel and was not disappointed. Everything was taken care of from check out in the hotel to check out on board. Lyggavewastaken care if from stat to finish and the staff were extremely professional. The standard in board was exceptional with large comfortable cabins with balconies and all the home comforts you would expect. The actual tour around the different bay areas was remarkable. The package included kayaking, swimming, and more. Well worth the visit and a lifetime memory.

First off, I feel a little sad to knock a star off. The cabins are immaculate, comfortable, with nicely designed lighting, amenities, etc. Food is expertly prepared, and delicious. There were a few items not to my liking, but that's to be expected. The quantity of food was so much that I could skip something here or there and still be totally full. Drinks that I had were good, and for the most part reasonably priced. Staff were helpful and friendly. Excursions were fun, and suitable for all ages (I traveled with my 72 yr old father with no problems). I would note- it's a boat, and thus the entry into the cabin, and into the bathroom have a sizeable lip on them. If someone is older or has any mobility issues, this is something to be aware of, especially for middle of the night bathroom visits. My only reason for knocking one star- they give you 2 bottles of water, like most hotels do. However, there's not even free water during meal times. I drink a lot more than 2 water bottles a day, and felt that at least they could have had a water cooler or something for guests. It felt a bit nickle and dimey to me, given the price of the cruise. They have you pay and settle your bill before brunch, and then if you order a bottle of water or tea at brunch, they are coming back to collect more money from you. In fact, they forgot to charge me for 2 other items when I checked out, and wound up coming to me twice more for the equivalent of $2-3 or so. Surely at $300-400 a night, a little bit of extra plain water could be made available. Overall though, it was fantastic, and I would love to do it again someday!

In May 2019 I booked a cruise via my Hanoi hotel. It was a 2 day cruise in February 2020. I paid a deposit and all was confirmed. On 4th January OGallery contacted my hotel to tell them the cruise was cancelled. I sent a message via OGallery website 4 days ago to ask why. I got an acknowledgement to say they would respond within 12 hours. I had no response so sent an email 2 days ago and still nothing. So my hotel are left trying to find a suitable alternative at late notice. Degraceful that they cancel but are then not even prepared to respond. Avoid totally is my advice.
