I had the pleasure of walking Stometrivka recently with a local tour guide and I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of history that lined the street.

There are interesting and fun monuments to take in. There's also the old casino from the Austro-Hungarian period that was the center of the town's social scene when it was known as Stanislowiw. Today it is a sweets shop that's well worth visiting.

Fun fact for the non-natives: "stometrivka" translates roughly to "hundred meter way". The name derives from an old festival event in which participants had run 100m holding beer steins without spilling. It's really probably about 500-600m today in its current form.

Love being here anytime! It's calm and live at the same time, with charming musicians and cosy atmosphere.

Stometrivka is a part of a big street that was closed for traffic. Therefore you can freely walk here. Which is great as most streets are narrow and have too much traffic.
Walking street has many shops, cafes and restaurants with tables outside, nice to sit there in warm time. In summer time or with Christmas illumination and snow it is overall a nice street. Right now in March gray and boring as anything else:)) In Ivano-Frankivsk downtown you can walk all squares and streets in 20 minutes so nothing much to think where to go or not to go, anyways not much choice. Only city park and lake are located little further but there is nothing special about them.. The city has nothing terribly remarkable or outstanding to come here purposely, it is mostly a short term stop for local tourist heading for nearby mountains.

Plain, pedestrian part of the street in many regional centers. Like all ... cafes, restaurants, shops ... nothing unusual. Very short indeed, no shopping, and not very well kept.

The main shopping promenade in IF. There is a ton of restaurants, bars, cafes and buskers. There is a nice atmosphere and on a warm sunny evening it's a place to for a stroll and possibly get food, ice cream, drinks etc.

If you want to know Ivano-Frankivsk better, go to Nezalezhnosti street (its walking part), aka Stometrivka street . Art open air exhibitions, cafes, restaurants, a fountain, stalls, home-made ice-cream, live music, etc - only a small part of the experience you can gain here. The spirit of true Ivano-Frankivsk one might call it. So, welcome to our friendly city, you'll be glad that you came.
