A mate and I actually went in 2008. Spent 5 days in Phuket so we did the Phang Nga boat tour of the islands. What an amazing full-on day cruising around the waters on a 2 level boat and exploring the islands on inflatable canoes. Had a great tour guide but I can’t remember his name. I think we paid around $100 AUD booked through the hotel we stayed at, Patong Merlin. Food and drinks provided and the lunch was a big cook up of delicious Thai food. Our canoe guy, Ip, was too good at taking us out to the islands and navigating through some very tight spaces. There was one moment where we all laid flat on the canoe, Ip let some air out to go through a very claustrophobic cave where rocky surfaces were literally a couple of inches above and to the side of us. He was strong for a small guy as my mate has a rugby build and I’m quite tall but he knew what to do. We both tipped him $20 AUD. Highly recommend a tour like this to get away from the urban areas and explore a ‘different world’.

Booked a James Bond Island tour (through Buffalo Tours). While more expensive than the tours advertised in the street, it was a VERY wise choice to spend the extra money as numbers on this speedboat were limited to almost half those of the other operators using an identical boat. Because of this we were far more comfortable and safer on board. We were collected in an airconditioned coach from our hotel and transferred to Royal Phuket Marina. Our tour guide was "Mr Boy" who was not only excellent but very funny as well. Speed boat trip to Hong Island for canoeing which was excellent and then on to James Bond Island for sightseeing. These were excellent. Lunch at the local fishing village was reasonable quality. and then travel to Ko Rang Yai Island with swimming beach and bar. Cocktails at the bar were good. Swinning was average and snorkelling was non-existent at this time of the year and weather. Overall an excellent tour and great speed boat ride. Even my wife who hates boats enjoyed this part.

You must do this and you must use this company. Everything about our day visiting the beautiful Phi Phi Islands was just perfect. Our guide, sexy Mu Mu was entertaining and informative, and just added that little bit of extra care and personal service to our day. From driver pickup, to boat skipper everyone was courteous and professional. We were travelling as a family of 5, with a 2 year old who needed some extra attention. The whole crew made her feel special and nothing was too much trouble. Even when we left our hats on board the boat, these were delivered to our hotel. Thanks to the team at Phang Nga Exploration Co Ltd, one of the highlights of our trip and best organisation we have ever dealt with while travelling. Ross & Alfia P. BRISBANE Australia

We went on the phi phi island speed boat tour with tuk as our guide. He was very happy and made us all laugh. Highly recommended. The boat ride was good fun and the buffet we stopped at was good, honest food. The price was very good and for only around £4.50 ish (200thb) you get a very nice souvenir photo. They had a massive cooler there full of water and soft drinks and a tray of fruit later on in the day. The only bad thing I can say about the whole trip is we should have really been warned about the sharp rocks we had to walk over in maya bay. I know it is a small thing but a lot of people hurt their feet.

This was just fantastic! Very intimate, the ratio of guides to people was just 1 to 3 which meant you weren't just 'a number on a speedboat' ... and wow what a stunning way to see the islands! Our guide was just brilliant, very kind and caring. Made us a cute wee straw rose to take home, on the trip back to port. LOVED IT!
