Katathong Golf Resort & Spa is a one of most challenging golf course in southern Thailand. it is located in Phang-Nga province which is only 80 km from Phuket International Airport. It has been converted from Old Tin Mine into a challenging golf course. its named “a valley of Dreams” as it is surrounded by the mountains, waterfall and streams. a valley of dream Golfers will enjoy the challenges offered with a natural by the narrow fairways, big ponds and streams that require more strategic thinking, precision and accuracy, and also the Par 3 holes that go up the hill on N0.17, where you can’t see any area of a green from a tee off. as well as down hill on No.10, where you can see the whole green but a wind and big ponds are your obstacles for Accommodation, nowadays we have both Bungalow (20 units) and hotel (57 units) rooms to serve our golfers. for Locker room, 185 units for male and 35 units for female for more information

This place is great. Awesome golf course and the hotel is spectacular and both at reasonable rates. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I've been back several times and introduced some friends to the place and we all love it. I'll be back for sure.

this place has so much potentia just a little rough around the edges. a very challenging and beautifully laid out course. friendly staff good caddies. nice club house and restaurant and a lovely hotel that is affordably priced. worth the trip

The setting in the mountains is stunning. The golf course has some of the most spectacular scenery and holes that you will find. The course is made up of beautiful hills and terraced slopes and a maze of streams emanating from the large lakes.
A wonderful, highly recommended experience. The supreme serenity that envelopes the hotel and resort is relaxing despite the travails of negotiating the tough course. The big swimming pool and fascinating vegetation lend themselves to a calming influence that will de-stress and relax.
Staff and caddies are welcoming and eager to assist.
A truly awesome experience that should be enjoyed by all.

An interesting and very nice field in terms of scenery. Apparently an old mining area where the field was built. The greens leave much to be desired and the fairways are a bit uneven, but I liked the layout. Challenging, because there were enough differences in height and water. Good food in the restaurant and a really good pro shop too.

This is an awesome resort away from the crazy crowds of Phuket. Its peaceful and relaxing especially in the low season. The staff are lovely and the grounds and golf course immaculate. The restaurant and food are great. There's a driving range and putting green as well as the course itself. Will definitely come again.

From Khao Lak this new golf course which opened in February 2015 can be reached in 40 minutes. The Clubhouse facilities are wonderful and the welcoming staff make playing golf on Katathong a pleasure especially if compared to the very expensive courses in Phuket. The course itself is not an easy one, there are a few very interesting holes. Hole 10 is the signature hole, you have to play from above onto an island located in the lake, an interesting challenge. Hole 16 gives you a general overview of Kata which apparently is the name of the mountain on which you look and on hole 17 you need to play from the tee up on the hill which has the green of hole 17. The facilities on this golf course are outstanding with very clean and comfortable locker rooms, nice, clean and new buggys and the possibility to have a drink or meal after you finish playing. From the club house you also have great views of the course. If you did not bring your own bag, you can rent it from the Club House, they rent out good material.

My partner and I had the opportunity to play here with a golf package where essentially it is a 2 golf games for the price of 1 with a free night stay thrown in. This was a good deal not to miss as this is one of the more affordable deals golf lovers can find especially in the midst of very expensive golf clubs found in Phuket. Golf in Phuket is known to be expensive (ranging from USD200 and above for a game), so this course is definitely a great alternative. Golf in this course is challenging, with water and elevated greens as big key features. For those of you who have read the other reviews, there's a green which is essentially having you hit upwards >20 feet from the tee box. We did enjoy the golf here, interesting with the different challenges. This is definitely not an easy course! also, be warned- bring extra golf balls...
Caddy is a must here especially if you've not played here before. The good ones could actually converse in some broken English to help guide you on the course layout. Unfortunately not all the caddies are good, the caddy that I got had informed me that the distance from the tee box to the greens was 80meter when actual fact it was more than 130meter. BIG boo-hoo! Never been a big fan of caddies here in Thailand especially if they do not play golf, they are of little guidance to the golfers.
Accommodation is clean but sparse. Facilities is good with a nice outdoor pool. There's only one restaurant on site and nothing much around the area unless you drive into the small town just 15-20 minutes away. However, warning, you should have google translate as not many people there speak English.
Overall, we have enjoyed the game as it is a challenging and beautiful course. Would we go back again? Probably if they have the similar promotion the next time we're there.

Surely the most stunning golf course in Southern Thailand. Although still quite new, the course this year is in great shape. Well maintained, consistent greens, a fatastic test of golf. Apart from the annoyingly crazy 17th hole, this is a superb course. Fees are way less than any of the clubs on Phuket, and it's only a 60-90 minute drive North of the centre of Phuket. Staff there, from the Pro Shop, to the Caddy Master, to the restaurant staff, are all super friendly and seem genuinely welcoming (which is not often the feeling that one is left with on many of the neighbouring courses on Phuket). If you're in the area, and love to play golf on a well presented, challenging but beautiful and fun course, give Katathong a visit. The Club runs 'Sports Days' on Mondys and Wednesdays when green fees are even cheaper!

As per many other reviews the course is laid out in a very weird way.
But after saying that the course is nice, the fairways well maintained and greens good.
I had a great day with the wife (who got the 10th island green in 1 but still managed a 4) and would recommend it for those travelling from Khao Lak.
Just remember to take plenty of balls.
Mondays and Wednesdays are the "sports day" and green fees are half of normal.
