First time we tried to enter we were told to go away and put long pants on. The next day when we can back the locals were in there with shorts on 😀. It was interesting but not many exhibits where open so while it looked great we couldn’t actually go inside. Met a very lovely Thai man who wanted to have a chat and practice his English. Overall it is important to the Thai people and it has potential as a tourist attraction but I wouldn’t specifically visit it again unless you can access buildings and exhibits

"Sanam Chan Palace" I'm a person who rarely goes out anywhere. It's covid time I went here with my friends. It's a very long place. because I am a provincial child who came to study in Nakhon Pathom I could see that this was a beautiful and shady place. It is an ancient place of the Greek dynasty. But here can't take video at all. can only be a still image I'm impressed here because it's so beautiful!! If I have a chance to come back here again with my friends and family.

Today I will review Sanam Chan Palace. It is an old palace since the reign of King Rama VI. To enter, one must dress modestly. It is a very shady place with lots of trees. There are various palaces that can be viewed and read. There are many beautiful places to take pictures. It is considered a place to educate and get beautiful photos as well.

We just came to Nakhon Pathom for the palace, but closed for renovation. Pity, established under Rama IV about 100 years ago, it must be quite beautiful.
Next time.

The "palace" is actually a huge area of several "residences" of Rama VI, who ruled Siam from 1910 until his death in 1925. Rama VI, who was known for advocating "Thainess" and Thai nationalism, weathered criticism and coup plots from military elements that were impatient with the slow pace of "modernization" and advocated increased democracy. He was also criticized for the opulence of the residences at Sanam Chandra.
The beautiful shaded grounds are a favorite spot for locals for jogging and walking in the afternoon and evening (hundreds of people!). The grounds can be visited for free (after 4:00 p.m.) and provide a wonderful area for relaxed walking and recharge (after 6:00 p.m., visitors have to sign in and out of the grounds, but the process is simple). There are some restrictions on where people can wander, but officials and security staff are friendly.
One of the more interesting structures on the palace grounds is the Phra Tamnak Chali Monkol-asna, which is a 2-story building constructed in European-castle style architecture, beautifully colored in caramel-yellow and brown, with roof tile in red. In front of this structure is a cast statue of Rama VI's beloved dog, Ya Lei (sometimes written as "Jarlet"). The dog was born in a prison in Nakhon Pathom and adopted by Rama VI. It became such a favorite of the king that it even became the target of envy and was eventually shot and killed by a detractor.

This time round we just had a walk in the park which is open for free 4-8 pm and in the early morning. We enjoyed feeding the fish (bring a 10-baht coin for the fishfood machine) and the squirrels, only be careful and don't let them bite you like the one that bit me.
The palace buildings look beautiful in the early evening light. I went in the palaces during an earlier visit. It's nice variety of buildings, European as well as Thai style, interesting because the furniture etc. is still there. Entrance is included in the mandatory entrance fee to the park between 8 am and 4 pm. A pity you can't take any photos inside.

It's a kind of Summer Palace of King Rama VI. It's not far from BKK, about 1 or 2 hours depends on traffic. Just go the direction of Silapakorn University.
The palace compound covers an area about 355 acres and about 2 kms west of Phra Pathom Chedi.
The palace is still very, very good condition and taking care of. Very nice garden. I love those architecture, the mixed between English, Thai and some European. I have got a lot information and saw many nice things of King Rama VI's and his queen(s) and the princess.
Are not allowed to take photos inside the building. 30 Baht for entrance ticket for an adult. please check your clothes, too... no short !! The shoesbag is provided by the staffs at the palace's entrance.
A good thing is each palace, there is always staff who will be a guide for each group, each coming time.
It's nice to see such a beautiful different style palace, big trees, breeze, listen to happy and sad historical stories.....

In the heart of Nakornphatom, attached to the Silpakorn university , is nested that wonderful palace, in a marvellous park, filled with royal history and religion.
So clean and in perfect condition, with very nice officials to guide you if you ask information.
Entrance for park and palaces is 50 THB only, more than happy to pay this contribution for a so nice place.
Go early morning or mid afternoon, and invest 3 hours for wandering, resting and visiting.
Thailand at its best!

Sanam Chan Palace is a sacred ancient site worshiped by the people of Nakhon Pathom Province. and if we worship Ganesha here It will also pay homage to Phra Pathom Chedi. because both are in the same plane.
