Great Muay Thai
Jan 2020 • Solo
I had a great time at this Muay Thai gym. I have been to a number of Muay Thai gyms around Thailand and this is one of the best so far.

Darius and his team offer well organised and fun classes, treating everybody with respect.

People of all fitness levels can join these classes. It doesn’t matter if you’re coming for a single class or joining for a few months training.

If you’re on your own, don’t be afraid as the team are friendly and will teach you all the basics.

Darius has all the equipment you need. Just turn up in your gym kit ready to sweat!

I spent two weeks training here in January and really enjoyed it. If you’re on the island it’s well worth going to at least one class.

Very intense! :-)
Nov 2019
I have never practiced any kind of martial arts, so my first visit at Monsoon was really exciting for me. Also I'm not in a very good shape, so the intense training soon got me winded. But I suppose that if I'd kept it up a few days a week, I would soon become fit.

The Thai instructors are skilled and friendly, and waste no time bringing all the students into the different fighting techniques (hand, elbow, foot, knee, blocking etc.).

I'll certainly come back next time I'm in Koh Tao, and if I was staying for a long time this would be my training centre.

There is no aircon or clothes provided!
Not even something to protect your knees + heels.
So make sure you come with the right clothes, a bottle of water and something to change to.

The teachers are nice and full of humour but they don’t speak much English and it was hard for us to communicate and ask questions or learn the actual techniques.

When we came a few hours before the class to get some information there was no one but a cleaning lady in the place (we tried calling & emailing but nothing)

In total it’s a nice and cheap experience but not professional or teaching.
I probably had the teacher attention for 20 minutes in total out of 1.5 hour of a class.
In the rest of the time I was either left to do push ups or to fight on my own without knowing what I’m doing.

Hi Michael. Sorry that you didn't enjoy your training, but just curious, what gym provides clothes? You would have known that you needed to wear your own clothes prior to beginning your training. It should have been no surprise. Our weight training gym has aircon, but our fight-training facilities are open-air (covered). We don't hide that fact and you would have clearly seen that when you arrived...before you trained with us. I would guess that there is not a single, legitimate Muay Thai gym in all of Thailand which is enclosed and air conditioned. We sell water and we provide free fill-ups of your own water bottles for all of our students. There is always-always an attendant in the gym who speaks English and can help. It's simply not true that there was nobody but the cleaner in the place. I also respond to emails personally at least within 24 hours. I recommend that you do a little research and discover what gyms provide before going and finding yourself let down because it doesn't meet your expectations. Authentic Muay Thai training is definitely hard, requires a certain mindset. Coming in with your attitude is not conducive to training. We are not offering a tick-the-box Muay Thai experience. We train people who want to try Muay Thai, get better with their skills and/or want to get fit. We hope you enjoy the rest of your Thai holiday and suggest that you check out the beaches.. That may better suit you. Darius Owner- Monsoon Gym & Fight Club Koh Tao, Thailand

Training Holiday
Jul 2019 • Solo
This a a fantastic gym/ fight club. I’ve come from Australia for a “training holiday” and been living in Monsoons dorms for around 3 weeks, training 2-3 three times daily with Muay Thai, jujitsu and weights.
All staff have been accommodating and have excellent English; from trainers, cleaners, managers etc.
I came in with little Muay experience, but through the instruction of the trainers I feel much more confident with kick, knees, elbows, punches etc: putting it to the test with daily sparring.
The gyms right on the beach, metres from massage, shops, yoga, food, bars and more.

I’d absolutely recommend this to anyone looking for a fight camp experience, or just looking to improve basic skills and fitness 👌🥊

Great Muay Thai training and complete fitness gym
Jan 2019 • Couples
I trained Muay Thai at Monsoon with my girlfriend for 3 days when were staying at Koh Tao. It was a great experience and we enjoyed the training a lot. The staff is super friendly and the trainers are great. The atmosphere is relaxed and the training challenging, exactly what you want when you are on vacation. We are definitely coming back here when we visit Koh Tao again. We went for the afternoon classes and the size of the classes were perfect, so that everyone got 1 on 1 time with the trainers.

We used the gym one time and it has all the equipment you need for good strength training.

The weights gym is great for the price with all the equipment you need, the muay Thai class was intense but a lot of fun and the people are great so you'll end up making friends there. Oh and the manager is a legend (and easy on the eye) so a win win really! :)

Thai boxing
May 2018 • Friends
I did thai boxing at Monsoon Gym for a couple of weeks while staying at Koh Tao with some friends. The intensity of the workout was amasing and I went home tired, but with a smile on my face every time.

Great instructors and workout
May 2018 • Friends
I had a great month in Koh Tao where I had the opportunity to practice Thaiboxing two times a week in Monsoon Gym. The instructors pushed us to the limits but it was really funny and it was the best gym to do it in. Would recommend to take look by if you want to workout.
