About Calypso Diving - Koh Tao
We are a relaxed dive centre, located in the quiet and picturesque scenery of Tanote Bay on the east side of Koh Tao. Our experienced English and German speaking team teaches CMAS and SSI courses in small groups, far from all hustle and bustle Our wonderful bay is the perfect place to spend your valuable few weeks of the year, because we don’t have mass diving here. We take our time with and for our customers- not only underwater, which is probably the main reason that 80% of our customers are repeat customers. Have a peek in our guest book and visit us on Facebook. We are looking forward to welcome you! The Calypso Team

I was convinced to learn to dive after visiting an island a few hours away, where my boyfriend works as a dive guide. I spent hours snorkeling there, in awe of underwater life, convinced there was more to see underwater. My boyfriend suggested I come to Calypso to get an open water certification. He did his research years ago to find the right shop for his dive master, and this was it. He told me that the east side of Koh Tao is beautiful, that Calypso is great for open water divers; the staff funny. My boyfriend has great taste. I took the CMAS 1* in English and loved my instructor, Haik. I don't know how many people can pull off what she does teaching a dive course. All the times I was confused, she never once had a stinkface. She had these wide open eyes, great stories and examples of possible situations, easy to understand analogies for abstract principles, and prepared and communicated with us in such a way that I felt safe underwater from the beginning. For the certification process, I'm surprised that I was capable of learning a set of functional skills. Each day I wondered whether the new things I learned would really stick, but found that each skill was repeated in a way that it had come together by the end of the course. I'm impressed, grateful, and excited to have learned to dive. Did boat dives with them the following day. It's truly different to be immersed in the underwater world and see life happening 360 degrees around. (Mating triggerfish, nudis, shrimp, rocks, corals, anemones, urchins, schools and colors and patterns fish, soles, and so much more...) Much love to the team and lovers of the ocean.

Excellent German diving school not only for German speakers! Great site, very smooth entry from the shore (boat dives are available as well), top equipment, very safe feeling! Fast replies for reservation and nice team 👌 Special thank you to Nobi for this experience (say hi to the fish on the motorbike for us 😀).

We dove with Calypso in early July for three dives. Our first dive was a relaxed check dive as it had been a while since my last dive and this was my wife’s first dive in tropical waters after being certified in Canada a couple of weeks prior. Haik was an awesome dive master and provided a very relaxed dive which eased my wife’s initial nervousness. After the check dive we decided to come back the following day for two boat dives, again with Haik, and they did not disappoint. Calypso is located on Au Luek Bay (worth a stop on its own) which is on the ‘back’ side of the island providing access to dive sites that are not visited as frequently by dive shops in Mae Haad and Sairee. Both dive sites were quiet (we were the only boat for the majority of the time), ensuring good visibility and no other dive groups to bump into. We would absolutely dive with Calypso again!

We were taught thoroughly and well by our teacher Balu, who worked with us individually to overcome our weaknesses and achieve the best possible outcome. The team is welcoming, friendly and gives you a feeling of home from the beginning. The divesite is breathtaking and there isn't a better place to learn diving! The equipment is modern and well maintained. There really is nothing negative to be said we felt save and in the best hands possible while learning.
