This is a great opportunity for anyone wanting to enter the world of conservation for both those with and without marine biology degrees. I have seen many knock off conservation courses in the past but this is the real deal from taking underwater surveys to getting into the finer scientific details. It is also a course that develops critical thinking from the point of learning where good intentions can lead to negative unintended consequences and building a responsible conservationist mindset. The staff are certainly experts in the field and often publish in leading academic journals. This is certainly one of the best conservation courses out there!

I did my open water certification course with Khan and New Heaven Dive School.

I had no previous experience with scuba diving and Khan was so good at being, both an relaxed, encouraging and a patient instructor, which makes it easier to make progress. You can see he takes his job very serious (in a chill way) and he is a really cool fun guy as well.

I travelled to Koh Tao solo to do a scuba diving course and I really enjoyed my diving days at New Heaven Dive and I highly recommend this family owned school to anyone. It was also just me in the the course, making it very personal.

I will try to come back to New Heaven and Koh Tao at some point.

Thanks Khan and the team of New Heaven Dive School!

The conservation work and care for the marine world is really a +.

I spent 5 months with New Heaven Dive School where I did my PADI Divemaster Internship, and additionally, their 4 week Reef Conservation Programme (NHRCP) and the time I spent there was one of the best experiences of my life!! What sets this dive school apart from all of the other dive schools on the island is instead of being a massive, money driven, dive school which are used to dealing with massive groups of students, New Heaven a small, family run business which make it a very tight knit community and I instantly felt like I was part of their family. All the staff were professional, friendly, welcoming and approachable and made the learning experience so much fun. The Reef Conservation Programme was arguably the highlight of my experience. Both Kirsty and Dev do such an incredible job teaching the conservation course. It was really well taught, educational & informative but most importantly it was so enjoyable and so much fun. I can't recommend this dive school highly enough!!

A huge thankyou to New Heaven Dive school for an unforgettable experience. Myself and my husband have just completed our Open Water Dive course with the fantastic Pod, him and all the staff at New Heaven were incredible. Everyone that we had the pleasure of meeting during our stay and during our course just made our trip perfect. Everyone was so friendly and warm and really made us feel so welcome.
We stayed in a Hillside room, which was clean, comfortable with good AC and fan and a really soft mattress for us to collapse into after a busy day diving. We hope to return to New Heaven Dive Resort in the future.
Thankyou

I did my free dive level 1 course here with the very experienced Instructor Dev. I can't say anything but it was an amazing experience.

There're so many dive school on Koh Tao, but I was really happy that I came across New Heaven dive school. Located next to the incredible restaurant "Koppee" - a treat for the soul.

I learned so many new skills. Free diving is all about proper breathing, mindset and body positioning. Dev can explain everything very clearly, what makes it easier to make progress.

Dev is an yoga-Instructeur as well. So before and after the dives we had lots of fun in his Yoga studio.

Cant wait to start my level 2 !!

Thanks Dev and amazing team of New Heaven Dive School!!!

I did my advanced adventurer diver, my rescue diver and conservation courses with new heaven dive school. That was a wonderful experience that changed my life. People are amazingly nice and kind, you're not just a customer here, it's seems like home. Everyone is also very professional, the place itself is fantastic too. If you go here you'll learn so many things, not only about diving. I would recommend this school to anyone!

I'm scuba diver since 10 years. Travel a lot and love diving.
New Heaven was one of the biggest dissapointments.
No respect for customers, crowd, lack of organization. Arogant owner.

I have been diving all over the world so I feel qualified to note my comparisons of this dive operator. We came to Koh Tao for a short stay specifically to go diving. I chose New Heaven because of the overwhelming number of positive reviews from people who have learned to dive with them and especially because of their commitment to conservation. I can't comment on the dive school, it must be good. We did not make a scene, nor did we refuse to pay.l Without wanting to pass my judgement onto you about their operation besides their school here are some factual experiences for you to make your own call.
1. NOT ON THE LIST. We phoned the day before to book, left our names and found out the proposed dive sites. Upon arrival, our names were not on their list and the two dive sites were different than those told to me the day before. No apology or explanation was offered.
2. HAZY DIVE LEADER. Our dive leader was a dive master in training with poor English. He was neither friendly nor enthusiastic about welcoming us or helping us to put together our dive gear. Our first impression of him was that he must have had a big night the night before, it was almost comical watching him try to find a pair of fins that fit us. Because he didn't seem to know what was going on, we started to feel nervous ourselves.
3. NO LICENCE CHECK. Not once did anyone ask to see either of our diving certifications or even ask what level we had attained verbally, yet we were asked to sign a waiver with regard to liability of the operator in the event of an accident, tragedy, loss, death, injury etc.
4. OLD EQUIPMENT. I noted that both the BCD's given to us we're heavily frayed around the seams with stitching coming loose. I asked a staff member the age of the equipment and he said, "about 3 years" then followed with, "it's JUST a BCD mate". I kept quiet but in my opinion, that BCD could be responsible for saving someone's life, it is is not "just" a trivial accessory. It was certainly the worst condition I've used in 21 years of diving. The fins and wetsuits were also in poor condition, 4 out of 4 in our group had holes, torn seams or a broken zipper, not sure of others on the boat.
5. FAULTY REGULATOR AND GAUGE. My spare regulator had a slow leak and the depth gauge was no longer working. I let our dive leader know about both and he said they were no problem. Apparently it is not worth replacing the depth gauge because people knock them and the break again. So I went diving with no idea of the depth I was at.
6. NOTHING ABOUT CONSERVATION. For an operator whose point of difference was conservation, I was hoping to learn a thing or two about Koh Tao and how they were protecting it. Our dive leader had no idea about the sites besides what we could see ourselves on the plastic card maps. After watching the other two inexperienced divers in our group carving their way through soft coral due to poor buoyancy, I don't think our dive leader shared in the company's dedication to the environmental cause. Twice, I myself tried to pull these other guys off the coral especially when our leader decided to take us through a swim through, these guys came out the other side in a cloud of broken coral and sand.
7. TWICE LOST. Our leader lost the novice divers twice on one dive because he swam too fast and wasn't watching them. I cringed at this one, really not good, especially in only 5-10m disability.

Other than that, the experience was all good. I just wonder if New Heaven are riding on the coat tails of a brilliant start but have now started to drop the ball.

first of all i have to say the mail contact with devrim (owner) was nice. that was the positive part at all. when we arrived we found out that all information given on the web page was just a fake. they even don't have bungalows on the beach front. just rooms in a building next to loud bars or on the hillside. also only one of the rooms close to the dive school have a real sea view. and the beach .... yeah it is more or less a parking possibilty for boats... not a beach at all. we were very dissapointed but we decided to stay there... yes that was our fault... and the shixxxx went on. after discussion with the owner about his wrong facts on his page (in his mind it was no mistake... the page was just not updated) not to mention that he was the one who even sent me some pics per mail with the nice looking beach bungalow we had our diving day on the next morning... after a sleepless night due to the bars with loud music. if have to say... i never dived with an unprofessional, chaotic and less qualified dive center... and i dived a lot around the world already. i guess the quite good reviews on tripadvisor came from open water trainees who have no idea about real fun diving. the problem in koh tao is... that they just want you if you make a suba course... nothing else... if you just make a fun dive... you are just interrupting them with extra efforts in their scuba diving money factory. koh tao is just a scuba factory. .. nothing for fun dives. so if you want to have great dives... go to koh phi phi and you will see the difference. so back to the main topic... the dive day starts with missing equipment. imagine ... you as a diver have to use your own equipment because new heaven diving is not able to have sufficient equipment for their certification factory. sooo strange.. this never ever happened to me before. but ok we had our own fins so we were forced to use them. secondly we were one of at least twenty people in this mass scuba dive tourism... ok our fault. next ridiculious thing was the worst quality of diving equipment i've ever seen. even the dive guides had torn dive suites and boots .. the fun diver and trainees as well. additionally the bcd and regulators were leaking not only because of the missing o-rings. our dive master had to change our equipment two dives and the "new" one given was still leaking. unbelievable... and that is the island with the most scuba diving certifications in the world... but the best thing is still coming. we finished our second dive... suddenly on of our fin straps was missing. yes the private one we were forced to use cause they didn't have enough :) haha. ok very dissapointing again... we told our guide and he was looking for it. chris... an us-american was very nice at all. another guide... a blond haired one... wow... never met a dive guide like this. he was unfriendly at all and unqualified to be in a job with other people. i guess he also hates to dive in this factory. ..so he just mentioned that it was our own fault... no it wasn't ... but ok ... an fin strap for 3 eur is not a big problem... i thought a large dive school like this shouldn't have a problem with it and could replace it.... haha you can't imagine what happened... first they said... they can't change bacause they don't have it. then i showed them in their own equipment that they have a strap which would suit. then they said somebody had stolen it... of course... fin straps are something everybody needs. never heard such a stupid thing. after discussing about stolen fin straps about half an hour they called the boat and said they found it. in the meantime we decided to leave the dive school and our room immediately.... it would just be wasting our time and money to stay there one more night. after waiting half an hour to get the fin strap from the boat... it was not ours.... and it didn't suit so again wasted time. in the meantime the owner came back from his yoga hour from the upper floor. but we were not worth it to talk to us.... unbelievable. so Devrim.. get this review :) thank you very much .. now we know how we will never dive again :) you are just one of a million... and all are better than your "dive school" ;) and the "resort" so the outcome of the time with you is to know how to cherish the other well working dive schools

Hello Steff R, I am sorry to hear that you had a less than perfect time here at our dive center and resort, and I also apologize for this reply being so delayed. During the time you arrived we were in the process of updating our information on our wesbite, as over the last year there have been many changes with our resort. All of the information about rooms on our website has been thoroughly updated now to accurately reflect what we offer. We have also worked together with the bars in our area (note that we do not have a beach bar playing music) to reduce the volume of music, they also now all close the music before midnight. I do not have enough information to comment on your dive experience, as I was not there. However I can be sure it was an abnormality, as we generally do not get this type of feedback. We have been in operation for over 20 years on Koh Tao, and have remained one of the smaller shops, more focused on the experience of each one of our guests, rather than the number of guests we receive. I have to politely disagree with your comment about us being a factory - we offer small groups on the boats (max 20 people), 4 people per dive group, no dive time limits, and personalized service. I am sorry that your impression of our dive school was different, and I apologize that we were unable to live up to our reputation in your case. I hope that the rest of your trip to Koh Tao was enjoyable, and that you had a hassle free trip home.
