The staff were friendly and accommodating. The instructors (Charlie & Adam) were helpful as i never been scuba diving.
The only peeve was the equipment didn't fit.Adam DMT swapped with me which helped.
The reason this is a 4 star review is b/c i had difficulty trying to equalize pressure under water no matter how much i tried.
Still it was something i won't forget and would recommend Phoenix Divers with a caveat that it may be prudent to try the "fun dive" before jumping into the deep end.

We did the open water diving course at phoenix divers. Our diving teacher Dan was the best we could wish for. He is was very professional and always looked for the safety of all 4 of his students. At the pool we had enough time to get in touch with the basics of diving and we learned and trained some important skills. The theory part of the course was created pretty interesting and with a lot of practical exampels. Dan was patient and relaxed all the time, which gave us always a secure and good feeling while we were diving with him. There was no stress so that everybody could stay relaxed, enjoy the dives and work on their skills. It was so fun diving with Dan and the other crewmembers of Phoenix Divers like our second diveteacher Dom, that we decided to do the advanced adventure course as well. Like the open water diving course it was a really nice experience and we learned a lot about diving by night, in deeper areas, navigation, bouyancy and wreck diving while we steadily were able to progress our personal basic diving skills aswell. We can really recommend pheonix divers because of the professional staff, the relaxed atmosphere and the organisation of the courses! The prices are very good aswell! Thanks to Dan and the team for getting us addicted to diving.

Picked this dive centre purely based on trip advisor reviews. Felt Ban's was too Korean heavy and wanted a more western feel. Was not disappointed in the slightest. First 2 dives was in a small group of 4 with Lucas, felt confident and safe with his lead. Second 2 dives just me and Lucas, again first rate lead. With rainy season it is better to go on the early morning deep dives for better vis. Great boat, good equipment and very friendly staff. As an experienced diver I took note of the training of new divers and feel confident new divers are getting the proper training here. Would highly recommend Phoenix to both beginners and experienced divers.

I undertook my open water diving certificate here in Jan 2020 and within the month returned to do my Advanced Adventurer Course. The vibe at Phoenix was unreal, and the fun didn't stop at diving!
For both courses, I was lucky enough to have the same instructor, Charley. Awesome guy, who took pride in teaching us everything we needed to know in order to have the best diving experience whilst maintaining safety and professionalism the whole time. He spent the extra time to make sure we were all comfortable and happy throughout our whole course and ensured my whole diving experience on Koh Tao was an absolute blast. Not to mention Phoenix has the best boat on the island.
I wouldn't go anywhere else in Koh Tao.
Ask for Charley as your instructor, you won't be disappointed!!

This seems to be a good dive shop with a fun atmosphere. I know all dive shops pretty much match that description but this place is very welcoming and takes good care of you. I watched them deal with divers at every level and they were very careful to make sure everyone was comfortable. Especially the beginning divers. I think this is what they do the most. They threw a bbq when they had a heavy load of new divers to make everyone feel at home.
I liked all the gear, ran into no janky crap. They have their own boat and longtail so it's a well oiled operation every day in and out. I saw more in two days with these guys than I did with another shop. Might have been luck? Might have been focus and experience. Yes there are definitely turtles to be seen. And rays, and, and.
I want to make a special mention about Nathan Horst. He led me on my Rescue Diver course and put me at ease. It's not really easy being the center of attention saving people in front of an audience but he made it jovial at the same time he was calling me out on my missteps. He didn't make me feel like I screwed up but joked about how I could have talked to the victim etc. Thanks Nate.
JoJo you never blew my high. Nice try though. Was good to meet ya man.

Harris and Mathieu were amazing instructors, and Mathieu took amazing photos of us diving too!
Well organised, friendly and informed instructors and crew, super convenient pick up and drop off. Great way to make friends if you’re on a solo trip.
If you’re particularly nervous about diving or completely new to it, I would recommend asking to make sure your skills component will be a pool session. Ours was done in the water similar to a refresher session just before the dive… I had done a discovery dive previously so was fine, but some of the first timers were a bit stressed as there was a bit of a current. The instructors were doing everything they could to assist though and in the end everyone had a great time.
Also had a great range of languages on board so people could get instructions in their native language if they didn’t speak heaps of English 🥰
12/10 recommend taking sea sickness pills if you usually need them - was so grateful they had some on board!

While in Koh Tao I decided to try my hand at a dive for the first time ever. Was an amazing experience, made much easier and stress free with the help of Phoenix divers, especially the wonderful and patient Audrey.
From the minute I visited my nerves were put at ease, and Audrey made sure I was confident before entering the sea during a practice in a nearby pool. Throughout the whole experience she was there making sure I was OK, and at any time I felt anxious, she soon made sure I was calm again.
Prior to this I was even scared to put my head underwater and am so glad this fear is now conquered.
I managed to compete successfully two dives of the day. Can't thank you enough Audrey.
Billy the photographer was there to capture plenty of amazing photos of this experience for a friend and I.
My friend did her Open Water which she loved. She also had an amazing instructor, always felt safe and could see how much she loved her job. Big thank you to Mona also. We had a great day!
My friend is now planning to come back to complete her advanced diving before the end of the month.
Thanks again to Audrey, Mona, Billy, and the rest of the crew at Phoenix Divers, you guys are awesome 👌 👏

For sure one of the best diving schools on the island, planned to only do the open water course but had so much fun we did the advanced too, would highly recommend doing both. Ask for Dan he’s the man. Thanks again Dan and the team at Phoenix. Hopefully will be back 🤞

I absolved my open water course today with instructor Finn. I highly recommend him as he was able to take my fear and made my experience under water unforgettable. He is very patient ,always takes extra time if someone is struggling. Also he is open to answer all curios questions and gives good understandable lesson's! It was definitely fun and I am looking forward to take part on the Advanced Course with him!

Hi Guys, just a short question from my side, as we are planning to go to Ko Tao and get our OWD done at Phoenix.
Is it worth to book accommodation with Phoenix and stay at AC resort? We are a couple and would not like to stay in a dorm. We would like to have our separate room.
Thanks, Dipen
