We had high expectations of the fabled laem thian and we were horrified by what we found if you like abandoned buildings with piles of trash and a scrawny beach with the most strenuous hike of all time time then this is the place for you

Nice hike to the place

Amazing place, after a 45 minute hike through the jungle. Quite surprising that they built something so remote, only good accessible by sea, but it didn’t last at the end. Good to see the jungle reclaiming the bungalows again.

Totally Worth It
Mar 2019 • Couples
Unmarked so make sure you know where you’re going. If you start at Tarn Align resort and just walk straight up the hill so the resort is on your left hand side then you will get to the gravel path. It’s unmarked. You can download maps.me. We had a hard time finding because we did not go that way, we started up at two view due to poor directions from our hotel. So I hope this review makes it easier on you!

Cool hike to abandoned resort
Apr 2017 • Couples
If you are looking to do a bit of hiking head into this bay. Really cool abandoned resort to hang out in and several rocks to jump into the water.

Great hike Good snorkeling
Aug 2016 • Solo
I spent an afternoon hiking to Laem Thien then snorkeling and exploring the abandoned resort and the scattering of enormous boulders behind the resort. There were lots of great jungle sounds, lots of cool bugs, birds & Butterflies along the trail. As you reach the bay, the path opens up into an amazing view. There were only 2 other couples other than myself on the beach. I was the only snorkeler in June of 2016. There was lots to see under the water. Not as impressive as the coral covered boulders of Hin wong or Ao Leuk, but still lots to see. The fish were plentiful. I highly recommend this location to anyone staying longer than just a few days or to someone who wants some quiet isolation. If you only have a few days, there are better places to snorkel and a stop at Nang Yuan is a must along with the hike to John Suwan viewpoint (50thb).

Crazy Hike and Awesome Cliff Jumping
Jun 2017 • Solo
Went here a on a recommendation from people we met on the island. The initial hike across from Soiree is long and daunting but in the end it worth it.

You have this awesome run down resort to explore through and some of the best cliff jumping into crystal clear waters.

All in all its an awesome day trip

Spend a day at Laem Thain
Mar 2017 • Friends
Find trail head and hike to other side of the island to find a bit of isolation. We hiked over with lots of water, food and masks. Great way to spend a day away from the crowds at your private beach. Bring more water then you think... it's worth it!!!

Excellent place to visit
Feb 2017 • Friends
A good walk along a variety of different surfaces best done early in the morning to avoid the worst of the heat. Takes you right away from the hustle and bustle into the quiet natural surrounds until you reach the bay at Laem Thian. The remains of a resort are still evident but it is good to sit and watch the world go by.
