I had booked a private cooking class in Koh Tao with Joy for me and my boyfriend as a Christmas present for him. I can only say that everything has been absolutely fabulous and really worth the price! From the stunning view from Joy’s roof terrace, to the detailed and careful direction of Joy in teaching us how to cook three different dishes of our choice (we cooked Pad Thai, prawns green curry and chicken wrapped in pandan leaves), from the fresh ingredients to the friendly and welcoming attitude of Joy, we had real fun, we learnt lots of secrets about Thai cuisine and especially we ate a lot!! Joy also gave us a little gift to bring back with us and the remaining food to eat the following day. I would highly and sincerely recommend a collective or private Thai cooking class with Joy to whoever comes to spend few days in Koh Tao: her professionalism, competence and hospitality made our class one of the greatest and most pleasant moments of our stay, as well as a way to learn a new skill and to bring back home with us a little taste of this wonderful country! Absolutely a MUST DO during your holidays in Koh Tao, and we will definitely go again to visit Joy and learn new dishes next time we are around!

We spontaneously booked the cooking class at 2pm with joy and just had one of our best days. I made my very first own Phad Thai by myself and it was just so delicious, now I finally can do it myself at home (we had chosen Menu 1, so we also cooked Spring Rolls and Penang Curry). Joy is such a lovely person, her English is so good and it was just such a nice day. So thank you for this great experience Joy!

This was my first ever cooking class but it was fantastic! Joy was an amazing, friendly host and I learnt so much. There were six of us in the group and two vegetarians; individual needs were catered for excellently. We made so much delicious food and couldn’t eat it all so I would recommend being prepared to take some of it away (we were heading straight to New Year’s Eve celebrations so that was our only downfall!!) Thank you, Joy!

Joy is a great chef and a lovely person! Our experience in her class was wonderful and intimate - it was just us, one other couple, and Joy. She taught us how to make fresh rolls (which did specially for us to accommodate a gluten allergy), Penang curry (paste from scratch!), and Pad Thai. We enjoyed not only learning how to cook delicious Thai food but also chatting with her and learning about her experience living and working on Koh Tao. We definitely recommend Joy’s class for an authentic, relaxing, and delicious Thai cooking experience!

This was our second time taking the class with Joy. This time we came with our four adult children and one friend. Joy is a great teacher and representative of Thai food culture. We had a great time and a great meal (with plenty left to take back to the villa). If you enjoy Thai food and cooking, you will have a great time at the beautiful roof top kitchen learning from Joy. We will be back in the future (there are enough dishes to choose from so no worry about having to repeat things)

Great Thai cooking class on a rooftop terrace with a marvelous view on the ocean. After our group of 4 choose the dishes (Penang Curry, Pad Thai, Sticky Rice with Mango and Spring Rolls) our host (Joy) checked our individual preferences. For instance, I preferred my Pad Thai with Shrimp while others decided to prepare it with chicken. The cooking session was fun and well organized. Joy took care that the food we prepared was absolutely delicious and gave heaps of tips and advice on how to prepare it after we returned to our home countries. What definately helped was that she had made her own experiences with cooking in Europe (in particular Germany) so she was able to teach us her experiences. All in all it was a great experience and I can personally recommend to learn how to cook Thai food at this place. Due to Joy being such a good host and moderator the course is suited for the experienced cook and the beginner alike.

The cooking class was amazing! We booked the class really spontaneous and we had the best day. Joy was great. She speaks perfect English, so it’s easy to understand her and the instructions and she is such a lovely person. All the things we used for the cooking was fresh and she even told us how it could look and how to get it in our home country. Now I know how to make the best Phad Thai I ever ate. Thanks Joy! Also the place where the cooking class is hold is breathtaking. I would recommend to everyone wo wants to do a Thai cooking class, do it here!

Joy is an absolute treasure to the food industry with her remarkable culinary skills, in-depth knowledge of ingredients, and the principle science behind complimentary flavours, along with her friendly disposition. Her English communications skills are exemplary which ensured I and the other students understood her instructions, were able to ask questions and receive a detailed answer. Joy went far and beyond to accommodate our requests and repeatedly exceeded our expectations. Her studio is very well equipped, spacious and exhibits an amazing view across luscious green trees that stretch out onto the beach with islands on the oceans’ horizon.

We cooked a Curry, Stir-fry and the famous PadThai and esch one of it was a blessing. Joy is such a warm and comforting person that it is really a joy learning from her. She takes her time explaining everything and answering your questions. And the ambiance ist also really nice with a wonderful view over the ocean. Would highly recommend and it was worth every cent!

I can only recommend this if you are seeking a place to learn thaicooking! Joy is the sweetest person and speaks perfectly good English. The dishes was among the best Thai food I have ever tasted. Definitely worth every penny! 😊 PS. Don’t eat before attending the course! 😄 I was full after the second dish we made, but got the rest in a bag which I brought home to my family. Especially my boys enjoyed the spring rolls!
