It's a bit long to drive there from Thong Sala but it's worth it. The beach is only sand so it's easy and not dangerous to swim (no rocks or corals). It was quiet when I went there but it's surrounded by expensive hotels and resorts.

Very rough, we were here for 18 days, the sea was very rough the whole time, so the waves were high, the sand was partly coarse pebbles. The beach certainly has its charm, but the neighboring beach is much quieter, has a completely different feel, better for children. There were often oil stains on our feet, it was torture to get them off.

Visited a restaurant on the beach but didn’t actually set foot on it.
Looks beautiful, big bay of sweeping sand, adjoining village somewhat tidier and more upmarket than most.
Seek out the lovely 2C bar on the overlooking hill for great views and cocktails

We stayed at Buri Rasa Resot arnd are really glad we did as not only is the resort amazing, but Thong Nai Pan Noi is definitely one of the best beaches (if not the best!) on the island. We visited quite a few other beaches during our stay. Bottle beach, Thong Nai Pan Yai (next beach over) and Secret Beach (not a secret though - very busy!) were also very lovely.

Large fine sand beach ideal for children (many…) dotted with hotels and restaurants. North facing so no sun in the late afternoon... part of the beach (on the left facing the sea) includes abandoned resorts and piles of garbage...
The water is still beautiful.

This is the smaller (hence "noi") Thong Nai Pan beach located to the north of its bigger sister Thong Nai Pan "Yai" (yai for big").
At the northern edge is Santhiya Resort, originally a Thai chain, where we stayed and liked very much (see our review). The southern boundary is set by Panviman Resort. Closer to Panviman on the beach, there lies Anantara, the most pricey on this beach. Btw Panviman and Anantara you'd have the upbeat Buri Rasa, which always have a crowd around the bar in the evenings with good music (not crazy loud but enough to kick the beat). All these are high quality resorts hosting relatively well-off families and couples at their 30s-50s rather than backpacker students seeking their low-budget holiday dreams. You wont find hippies here.
The boutique property "Sand on my Shoes" earns a mention as it has only nine rooms and a retro-modern bar/restaurant right on the beach btw Anantara and Santhiya.
Our favourite restaurant though was Baan Tapannoi, a part of Thongtapan Resort, right next to Santhiya to the south. Beautiful and delicious.
The crescent-shaped white-sanded Thong Nai Pan Noi beach right at the skirts of the lush green hills has clear waters; on the northern and southern edges bulky and rounded rocks setting the boundaries; beach itself being not so big, stretching over kilometers (like Chaweng in Samui) and not so small and tiny. You'd quickly say -and wish- "yeah it is my beach". Waters gain depth rather quickly so you dont have to walk for tens of meters in shallow waters to enjoy the true joy of the ocean swimming.
During the night time, most of the properties' restaurants are full but no loud music. Cool and stylish. You might even catch a fire-dance-show while having your dinner on the sand near Anantara/Buri Rasa.
Convenient enough, a small village with some shops, pharmacies, massage salons, ATMs and inexpensive restaurants lies right between Buri Rasa and Anantara behind the beach; check the map.
Enjoy the beautiful nature during the day and beach-chic dinner nights with sands on your flip-flops!
We wish to be back..

This beach is amazing. Just starting to change from a true Backpacker beach to a family destination, it's been fun (and sad) to watch the changes. With many local bars feeling the lack f party animals, the restaurants, shops and massage houses are still thriving.
Take a look at the places set back from the beach, along the main road for a real taste of Thailand. They are run by locals, not imported businesses, the prices are cheaper, and the food is as authentic as it gets. The food, massages and shops inside the resorts are OFFENSIVELY EXPENSIVE, make sure you check out places like Lemon Tree Boutique, Sorn Trips, Tanaporn Massage and H2O Scuba on the main road in town.

This is not the place to be if you want to party all night and bump into lots of young party -goers. Instead this is a beautiful calm beach perfect for swimming and snorkelling, with a great chill out vibe in the evening as the few bars and restaurants spattered along the beach place tables and sand cushions on the beach where you can dine and drink by candlelight and take in the tranquility and beauty of this place. Some restaurants on certain nights of the week have entertainment such as fire-twirling and Thai dancers performing and the local bars play great music where you can take off your shoes and dance with the locals. While it may not be as lively as other towns on the island it offers boat and waterfall trips, treks and is a great place to escape to especially with a partner without spending too much and without the pretention of other holiday destinations. The locals who own the restaurants and run the massage centres are all kind of heart and some of the friendliest people I've met.
I highly recommend making a trip here especially if you want to escape the commercialisation of other Thai places such as Koh Samui.

Very very chilled. Clean beach, white sand, great for swimming as no reefs here. Thong Nai Pan Noi definitely more upmarket than Nai Pan Yai, though it's not all upmarket resorts - the village has large selection of eateries. 80-120 Baht will get you good Thai food, and we spent more time eating here than at flash resorts and enjoyed the food more. You can go high end if you want beachfront, and there are very flash resorts (we stayed at Santhiya and it is serious luxury). There are bars you can lounge in on the beach, and the vibe is definitely chilled, not party noise. Good age range teens up to retirees...we're 50s but don't want all oldies and also don't want constant doofdoof music 24hrs...the doofdoof you get is classier too (I make electronic music, but decent music doesn't have to revolve around cheesey trance for 13yr olds - I heard some very good chilled beats here). We loved it here, and would have loved it if we were in our 20s too. Nice to see oldies and youth together here. Just like Corfu is not all Club 18-30, Koh Phangan is not all full moon parties...Nai Pan is the polar opposite.
Yai seemed downmarket but more of a beach place...if you want serious beach time I'd pick Yai over Noi, but Noi has more atmosphere, both only a 20 minute amble on proper road. And really, who can spend all day on a beach in 33 degrees? Last time we were in Thailand was Phuket, and seriously disappointed with beaches there...also loads of litter. Beaches at Nai Pan clean, free of litter, very good swimming, very calm seas, saw no jellyfish etc (you do get stingers in summer).
You don't have to be rich at Nai Pan but you can experience some class and chill here. You can pay thousands of Baht per night or just a few hundred. You can eat well cheaply or go high end. Sadly rather too many burger bars here, though all of them do seem to sell Thai food also..why would you visit Thailand and eat the same old rubbish western food? Thai food is very distinctive...probably had my best green curry at a cheapo place in Nai Pan Noi with 1 mama doing the cooking and everything else...not quick, but part of the fun is chilling with a beer. Strangely less chilli in food here than in phuket, but if you ask, they'll cook Thai-hot for Westerners. We ate at high end and basic local Thai booths...I think I preferred the cheap booths.

Better Than Sex- home cuisine, pizzeria & Bar. A place of comfy, hygiene, relax and definately GOOD FOOD!
Italian cuisine here is almost perfect! The atmosphere here also lovely for evening chill out! The owner will always come to each table personally and get to know you personally , to know your feedback, or if you have any special dish... he will try his best to make it....
Try it and you will love it!

Saremo a Koh phangan a fine agosto con bimba di 9 anni.
Vorrei sapere se la spiaggia:
- è come in foto o soggetta a forti maree e quindi non sempre balneabile
- adatta allo snorkeling
Grazie

Hi, mich würde mal interessieren wir es aktuell am TNPN beim alten Thongtapan aussieht. Ist es inzwischen abgerissen worden? Ich habe nur gehört das dort jetzt auch eine Luxus Anlage entstehen soll. Danke schon mal!! Yvonne

I was there 30 years ago. Are there still beach bungalows basic and cheap still or has it gone like koh samui?

I'm afraid that the time of basic and cheap bungalow are gone.
