Great cooking class. Thip’s style of helping you decide what to cook then go to the market and learn about the ingredients in Thai cooking was great. There were several chefs and we asked tons of questions. Each of our groups cooked a different curry, a stir fry, a Thai style morning glory and sticky rice with butterfly flowers and mango. We all shared our dishes and learned a ton.

I absolutely recommend this cooking class. Thip, the chef, is very nice, professional and speaks good english. She was eager to answer all our questions during the market tour and the actual class. At the market you also get a chance to taste lots of different food. She let us choose our favourite recipes and explained every step, suggesting alternatives for those ingredients that are hard to find back home. At the end she gave us a print out of all the recipes we cooked together.
A memorable experience!

Had a great time with Thip at My Wok and Me! I can't wait to take all of the knowledge I gained from this class back home, and make the delicious dishes for my friends/family.
The day started with a ride from our hotel to the market with the three other people in my group. We were given a 'menu' and told to discuss amongst ourselves and choose three dishes. We then took a trip to the market to gather supplies.
It was awesome to have a guide to answer all of our questions (so many exotic fruits and vegetables). Thip also bought things for the group that we were interested in and wanted to try that weren't part of the three dishes we selected.
We then went back to the kitchen - outdoor, so you might want to bring some bug spray - and started to work. Thip's assistant prepared all of our ingredients on personal trays and we were told exactly what things were and what we were to do with them. Thip was very patient with us (especially those less culinary inclined).
I won't walk you through the whole process (chop-chop-grind-cut-mix-fry), just know that it was very thorough and you're making almost everything from scratch (the only exception was the spring roll dough, which makes sense due to time constraints).
All-in-all, we spent a good four hours with Thip, and I never once was bored or antsy to get it over with.
Would highly recommend and can't wait to take another class next time I'm in Ko Phangan!
PS - certain members of our class had very particular food preferences and Thip worked around them and found many ways to provide options for them without affecting the rest of the group.

Today we joined a Thai cooking course at 'My wok and me'.
We didn't even get half of what was shown in the flyer.
Didn't even receive a welcome when walked in. We were immediately asked to chose 3 dishes from the menu as quick as possible. Then we biked together to the local market together with our Chef Oi. She hardly speaks few words of English and almost impossible to understand because of her accent.
She did a quick shopping, which we had to follow without being thought about herbs, vegetables, etc..
With in 15 mins we were back to the cooking place.
The place has no aircon and located next to a very busy road. Although we took the morning class, it was pretty hot inside.
In the flyer they mention that we'll visit their 'organic vegetables and herbs garden'. We didn't see that.
We were given 3 pages of paper which were supposed to mention the recipe of what we will cook. But somehow the cook prefered her 'free style cooking' which had nothing to do what was written on the papers. So we had to write down everything, which takes time. The cook asked us all the time to speed up and even getting angry by calling us 'don't you ever cook at home'!!!
The course was supposed to take 4 hours. But we were finished before 3 hours.
I found the cook extremely unfriendly and impolite, unlike all the Thai people we met so far.
'Fruit and vegetable carving course' was not given.
On the flyer it's also mentioned that we'll be given a Thai cook book and a certificate. What they give you 3 pages of semi-correct recipes are counted as cook book.
Certificates don't exist either.
Anyway, we couldn't learn anything we were expected.
1359 BHT per person is far too much for this course(?)

Was a really nice experience! Chef was very friendly and professional and she explained everything to us and used good and understandable english. Went to the market first with her and she bought all the ingredients while explaining to us the uses and did some tasting as well. Would recommend this to anyone and leftovers are given to you in a box which you can eat later.

I've had a great morning at this cooking class! We went to the market to buy the ingredients, I've asked a million questions about ingredients, thai cuisine and culture and me was happy to tell me everything, her English is great!
They are very negative reviews from 2014 but I guess tings has changed now so you can book this course with no hesitation!
I loved it and I could take home the recepies sp I can cook it at home!
I really liked it and recommended to anyone!

The instructor was very nice and welcoming, with very good English!
Visit to the local market was very nice experience!
We choose 2 starters and 2 main courses:
Papaya salad and fresh (non fried) spring roll - both were amazing!!!
phad thai and massaman&green curry-
The food was the best we ate in all of our trip!!!
The instructor also made us a take away boxes with all the food we didn't finish (because there was tooooo much food to eat).
A must experience for food lovers!

I'm shocked by some of the reviews on here of this cookery school as I visited the morning class today and thought that it was brilliant. There were 6 of us in total, we visited the local market with our chef who could speak really good English. We not only bought the ingredients for the class but tried local fruits, had a thai coffee each and watched how coconut milk was made. The class itself was really well done won lots of time for cooking and eating. All in all I thought it was a great activity and would recommend to anyone visiting the island.

My Friends and I visted the cooking class "my wok and me", we were really disappointed about the Chef. She neither said hello to us nor introduced herself. We went with bicycles to the market but we did not understand her because of her english. All in all the Money was not worth it...

Today we participated at the tour. It was just perfect!!
We started at the market, picking up some vegetables for our meals. After that we started to cook.
Everything was delicious and the atmosphere was great!!!
