The location is just fine but the venue is horrible. Very much a mass tourist place and most staff members are very unfriendly, lazy and not willing to help out. We even had someone that was raising her voice to us because we had a question. Most staff members need serious training.
The room that was next to the kitchen (don't except that one, lots of noise and horrible smells) had a lot of flies. The sheets were really old with stains and all furniture totally outdated and were not looking at all like what they show on the pictures. There are so many nice venues and resorts and places to find in Koh Phangan, better to skip this one unless you really like a big place with lots of mainstream tourists and a place that is overcharging you on basically everything.

Very unfriendly hotel staff.
1. The hotel has a Deposit for the key. This is not indicated on the booking.
2. When we said that we were seeing this for the first time in 2 months of travel, they refused to settle us. Even if we pay the Deposit, they won't let us settle.
3. Andministrator yelled at us.
4. Bike Parking is far away. The staff doesn't help carry things.
5. We needed sockets to charge the phone, but we were kicked out of the socket.
6. When we asked the chief, we were told to call Bangkok.
Terrible attitude to guests.

A beautiful beach with chilled bars and a laid back atmosphere, I can’t fault it. However, at the north end where advice suggests snorkelling by the rocks, there is a foul water drain coming from the properties. The sea was brown and smelly which was so disappointing. I hope that this happened because of the rain, and maybe it will dry up. I hope that my tummy copes too as we swam in it before we realised why the water was this colour. The coral that end was pretty dead too sadly. We saw a few small fish, nothing g more. It’s our first day, so hopefully the drain will dry and the water will clear.

Very nice hotel. Has very nice, but also less nice rooms, so be careful! For us, the price-performance ratio was right. Nice complex, with pool and restaurant. The best thing was the fish BBC in the evening. You could choose the fresh fish (large selection), which was then grilled. As a side dish: soup, salad, baked potatoes or rice

Excellent swimming location with shallow waters. A variety of beach bars and restaurants, some of them sitting on the bordering cliffs offering great views. Availability of all other required amenities like toilets, showers and water sports equipment rental. Also a number of decent massage parlours directly on the beach. We had a very enjoyable day!

Long and white beach on the west coast of the island
Lot of accommodations and even in high season never overfilled
If you are looking for a beautiful and peacefully spot I think is the best
Lot of good Thai Restaurant on the beach front and good Europeans one on the Main Street
24 hours open 7/11 is just 5 min walk from the beach
Just perfect :)

I have been coming to Koh Phangan for many years and in my opinion Haad Yao is the best beach on the island. It has a chilled vibe with plenty of places to eat and drink... the beach is kept spotless by daily sweeping of the sand and good for a swim depending on the time of low tide... love this place and will always come back!

Is this paradise?
Be careful~ is it not a pure sand bottom. Some buried coral. Protective footwear needed.

Hello,
Please could someone help... We are a couple (mid-thirties) and have arrived in Haad Yao and by 9pm everything seems to be totally dead / closed. Whilst we are not looking for crazy parties, a bit of evening atmosphere would be welcomed. I appreciate it is low season, and perhaps my expectations aren't on track, but would there be a lovely area of KP worth alternatively being based? Or would you head to Koh Toa instead? I have been to many Thai islands low and never known it quite like this before. Again please excuse my naivety. Thank you for your advice, really appreciated :)

Hi Leute. Gibt es im Hinterland auch was wie ein Dorf oder ne Straße wo man abends was bummeln kann ? Oder konzentriert sich alles auf den Strand ? Ich sag schon mal Danke. Gruß Rolf
Hi. Is there a street or a village in the near of the beach where we can spend some time in the evening ? I say thanks. Regards Rolf

Traveling there mid-April, is the water too low to swim in? Our primary goal is snorkelling.
Written April 2, 2017
Yes too low, you should head to Koh Tao really, the snorkelling is great there!

Nightlife? Is there enough restaurants and bars at to keep you interested at night?
Written November 16, 2015
Haad Yao Beach has a lot of restaurants and bars. If you are looking for nightlife, food, entertainment, dancing, music, they have it. I didn't notice many with live bands during the weeknights (I'm an older family guy so I don't drink alcohol or dance, I just prefer listening to a good live Classic Rock band while enjoying a Coca Cola). DJ's seemed to be the common choice at the bars there. I was told by a lot of the other people I met that they do have live bands performing on the weekends at some clubs along the beach, but I was elsewhere for the weekend so I can't say for certain. All and all there's plenty to do at night there, you won't be bored.
