After the disappointing baan tai beach, I really wanted to see something close to the Thai beaches everyone raves about and this was close to that. Very pictoresque, still lined with resort and bungalows bu these were discretely hidden behind the trees. It's April so I wasn't expecting much in terms of swimming due to low tide. This water was okay, still very shallow bus somewhat swimmable. No 100% plastic free but pleasantly clean. There were some families here and there but surely not crowded. If you walk to the most southern part there you can get access to a more secluded small beach but there were nudists there so I didn't go.

A lovely little beach, discreetly lined with restaurants among the trees.
My only niggle is that at low tide you have to walk a long way out to even get up to your waist in water.

This part of Ko Phangan is so relaxed and beautiful you must go. There are numerous restaurants along the beach. Art Cafe is a groovy vegan restaurant; Pirate club is a bar at the end of the beach - all worth a visit

The beach itself may not be the best on the island but it is quieter than those in the South and the sunsets are amazing. There are lots of lovely resorts in the area but you will want a moped to get around. Once you have a bike, it's a great point to start exploring from...There are loads of hidden gems around Koh Phagan just waiting to be discovered

This place is amazing . I found it by chance walking on the beach . The beautiful Indian restaurant caught my interest and I entered inside . Very beautiful old traditional Thai style . I booked a bungalow for ten days. Clean simple basic room . Just what you need away from Europe to forget routine .indian food was delicious and so tasty . Authentic Indian cook . Staff working there , were friendly and so nice . Alexandra and zoran did help a lot . My holidays past and my mind still in Koh pha Ngan . Xu next year

best beach on the west side of the island. this beach seems less popular than haad yao and salad, though its not clear why. beautiful and calm water. great options to eat in the restaurants in the resorts.
beach is clean and you can snorkel just going 150 meters in sea. up north is better for that but still a lot of fun. there is also an option for taking a kayak.

Nine times to the village of Sri thanu, and always a swim at Haad Chao Pao beach, swept every morning, loved everyday, dream sunsets on the right day, at peace.

Great for snorkelling but not a great swim destination as there is a ton of coral! Water was insanely warm! Felt like being in a bath with a bunch of beautiful marine life.
