I highly recommend Haad Yao Divers since safety is the most important part for me when it comes to diving. Haad Yoa Divers equipment is in top condition and Thorsten, our Dive Instructure, takes his job really sericous, though the fun part is never coming short. We went to "Sail Rock" which is a great spot to see a lot of fish and if you are lucky a whale shark might cross your stream.

The crew at Haad Yao Divers is absolutely amazing, and the quality of care you get at the dive shop is top notch.

I did a Rescue course with Ian, and he is now one of my favorite instructors I've had. Ian loves teaching, and has a way of adequately challenging students while also being positive and encouraging, which is hard to do. Ian genuinely cares about his students, and really takes the time to make sure they grasp the concepts in a practical way and adjust based on each student's needs.

Etienne and Mateja were also so lovely to work with during the course, and were so welcoming. This shop truly cares about the experience of the students and divers and I highly recommend them.

After 8 years of "diving abstinence", I did my refresher at Haad Yao Divers and it was great! Ian took the time and patience for 1:1 conversations and dives reminding me of everything that is needed to dive with joy and safety. Thanks to him, I gained back trust and could work on my breathing and equalizing techniques. And the best, besides the technical pars: We saw a wide variety of beautiful animals at the "Sail Rock" diving site. With Ian on my site, I even had the courage to dive into the "chimney" (inside the rock), which I never would have thought I'd be brave and good enough for. The video Ian took from the day is now on the Haad Yao Divers FB page, with music and cool effects. Just marvellous. Thank you so much for this incredibly beautiful experience!

Being a non diver I didnt think my day would be as exciting as my diving friends. Well, I was completely wrong!! I not only got to experience large shoals of different coloured fish dancing around me and giving me a spectacular show, I got to see strange and fascinating sea anemones and jelly fish. But best of all I got to swim with 2 Whale Sharks!! I real life exhilirating experience never to be forgotten! Even though I wasnt diving the Dive masters included me in their briefs and kept things interesting and informative. Breakfast, Lunch, cold drinks, coffee, cookies and fruit were included and greatly appreciated after every exciting swim. Nice Boat and friendly people! Thank you Haad Yao for a unforgettable experience!

Haad yao divers was recommended by some German friends so when we were on koh phangan we took look at it. We chose to do the sail rock tour but only snorkeling, not scuba diving. They accepted our request last minute the night before the day trip ,which was really nice ! They are able to speak German and English and more languages , so it was pretty easy to understand them and communicate with them !
They were really helpful from the beginning on. When one of us two got sick on the one hour boat tour to sail rock they offered some anti - sickness pills and they gave really good advice so that it was better afterwards.
After one hour to sail rock we were finally able to snorkel around .but in the beginning we were a little lost because the instructors went with the scuba diver groups and forgot about us. But when we asked ,some instructor gave us our snorkeling gear and some tips. We saw so many things even without scuba diving.
So many different fish species and sea animals . It was just so interesting to swim around and watch them. When we needed a break it was always possible to go back to the boat ,because it stayed there the entire time. At lunch ( good Thai food ) we were able to discuss what fishes we saw under water with the instructor hans , who was really nice and answered all our questions.
We would really recommend haad yao scuba divers, it was an awesome day and NOT a touristic company that just wants your money. They are really familiar and try to make your day unforgettable!

One tip : do not forget to put on sunscreen every hour at least ( we got the worst sunburn we ever had ) !!

Thanks again, Hans you are so funny !

About the quality of the diving courses I cannot say anything because I did not do any course their but I had one really negative experience with this company. I was at Sail Rock with another diving center and when we went into the water (our boat was next to the Haad Yao Divers Boat) we where treated in a very inappropriate and arrogant manner by 2 diving masters of Haad Yao Divers. In the middle of very high waves and a strong current (we where all a bit concerned as it was our first diving try ever) one of the female Diver Masters asked me "Are you with Haad Yao Divers" and as I answered "No" she told me not to touch the rope that Haad Yao Divers have just put there for their own customers and to get out of the way. Another male dive master did the same with my friends. I guess if they treat people like this they cannot be really interested in people, but in their money only. I did not do anything to them but they treated me an others in a very arrogant and unfriendly and inappropriate manner in that kind of situation.

Haad Yao divers is one of the most professional dive operators we have seen during the last 15 years. The boat is spacious and caters very nicely for divers, the crew are helpful and the guides professional. The amalgamation of all these things makes diving with Haad Yao divers relaxing, fun and enjoyable. If you are diving on Koh Phangan then make sure Haad Yao Divers is on your short list, we would definitely choose them again

I went there with two girls which had never dived before and we wanted all to take the Open Water. At first sight, we thought that maybe we had better go to Koh Tao. But we loved the relaxed atmosphere of Ko Phan Ghan and the wonderful beaches.
By chance, Haad Yao divers was a few steps from our hotel and well recommanded by Lonely Planet.
It was honestly a great experience, we had the chance to have an instructor for the 3 of us who could take the time every day to take a great care of each one while he still had to manage the school as he his the general manager. Even though, all the instructors there were really nice, helpful and professionals in and out of the water - spoke at least 3 languages (English - German - French).
We went once to Koh Tao and twice to sail rock and I have no word coming to describe how beautiful it was.
We enjoyed so much diving trips on the boat that we finally decided to take an extra day on the boat at the end of our training.
The boat is perfectly managed - and very confortable compared to the other that we saw. food and drinks on board - staff very pleasant and reliable.
Beware of chapter 6, no tutorial for this one.
Hope i'll go back soon.

The Italian guy who signed me up for a fun dive to Sail Rock at their office was friendly but didn’t explain anything. Not the number of dives or whether or not they served lunch on the boat. Nothing. He just started getting my bag of equipment ready. The group of instructors hanging around seemed nice but they all like gallows humor and as a new diver I was looking for a little more reassurance — Not maybe you’ll make it back alive but it depends on the instructor -ha ha.

So Sail Rock was a huge disappointment. The visibility was so bad. Only maybe 2-3m. I don’t even know why we bothered. I found it stressful as a new diver to try and keep within range of seeing the divemaster with the visibility so low. When I asked about the visibility the day before at the office the guy said visibility doesn’t matter at Sail Rock. Which I can say is untrue. Bc I barely saw anything. There could have been a whale shark three feet away and I wouldn’t have seen it. I know that the visibility is out of the company’s control but I paid for two dives to Sail Rock and we only did one. Which wasn’t even worth doing in my opinion. Then we changed sites and went to Koh Ma which was unremarkable. I feel like I totally wasted my money, 2,700 baht.

Before the first dive, the divemaster who took down another guy and myself asked us to do a buddy check and we did. The second time I went to do a buddy check the dive master was already in the water and my buddy just shrugged his shoulders when I started to do it and turned around and jumped in. So I just checked my own equipment one more time. Also they didn’t provide dive watches. Only the dive master had one. He never explained where we were going in Koh Ma beforehand.

Overall, I didn’t find them very professional or thorough and left feeling disappointed.
