We stayed at Ko mah resort and so spent two weeks on this beach. The water is beautiful without waves and safe enough for children. The beach area is big enough with an option of renting umbrellas and deck chairs. There’s a few restaurants here with an array of different cuisines.
The causeway to the island is idyllic and a perfect photo opportunity.
A perfect chilled location.

Koh Mae, the island that can be reached on foot as soon as it and is. But even when the tide is high, it is reasonably easily accessible. It looks nice from a distance. The beach looks like paradise. From Koh Pha-Ngan you walk to the path towards Koh Mae. Plastic floats everywhere in the water, especially from the right side. It is simply an ugly sight, a complete breakdown of what it should be. It seems that the Thai only does work for things where money can be made.
I also notice that a garbage can is found in few places, perhaps this is already a solution to ensure that the waters remain cleaner.

The island is very nicely situated in the north of Ko Phangan. Easy to get there by scooter—> the perfect means of tranport on the island. BUT.,,,, please local government CLEAN YOUR BEACHES!!!!!!
Your biggest assets are your beaches and nature on the island and you are spoiling it. Put at least trash cans on the beaches and things wil improve. I understand that most trash coms from the ocean, but in the end it starts with somebody littering….

My stay at this hotel was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. The service was terrible, the staff was rude and inconsiderate, and the hotel’s policies were simply unacceptable.
During my stay, I ordered food via delivery (not from the hotel). When the food arrived, I realized I didn’t have any utensils. I went to the hotel restaurant and politely asked for a fork. To my shock, they told me I had to pay a 500 baht deposit just to get a fork! I explained that I didn’t have cash at that moment and offered to pay with my credit card, but the restaurant manager refused. I asked how should I eat it with the my hands , the staff say yes. The staff members were all listening and laughed in my face instead of helping – I have never felt more humiliated.
Unacceptable Response from Hotel Management:
I escalated the issue to the hotel’s management, hoping for a reasonable resolution, but the response was just as shocking. The hotel manager, who is also the owner, repeated the same demand – 500 baht deposit. When I asked to leave the hotel and receive a refund, she refused and said it was not possible.
Hidden Fees and Rip-Offs:
The hotel has sunbeds and umbrellas on the beach, but to use them, guests are charged an additional 200 baht. This feels like a constant attempt to squeeze money out of guests for basic amenities.
Bottom Line:
I strongly do not recommend staying at this hotel. The service is awful, the management has no sense of customer care, and the attitude toward guests is disrespectful and unprofessional. Find another hotel that values its guests and treats them with basic courtesy.

Difficult to access due to unfinished road works. It is a place for swimming and snorkeling. 3 hotels surround it with medium-high prices. Possibility to rent a scooter on site. Some restaurants at reasonable prices. The name Ma refers to the small island opposite that can be reached on foot.

At this time of year especially, there is no snorkeling. The water is white from stirred up sand and silt. All I’ve seen is dead coral and seaweed. I’m a dive instructor and read a lot of old reviews about this place. Don’t bother!!!!

Koh Ma is a beautiful beach at the north-western tip of Koh Phangan. It's actually a small island connected to Phangan by a small sand bar about 200 meters long.
They offer snorkeling there, but we didn't find anything worth snorkelling for.
There are a couple of resorts there to stay overnight. We didn't stay there, so we can't comment on them.
There are day-trips in Phangan for 500 baht (about $16) and they all stop at Koh Ma for 1-2 hours,

To get here you have to enter through the resort whose beach belongs to.
The beach is very quiet and offers a variety of massages and fruit shakes for good prices.
koh Ma is an island connected to the mainland with a thin beach strip (about 15 meters) that gets covered and exposed with the tide.
Inside the water there is a clear view of the corals and sea life and is very recommended to bring snorkels with you

The Sand bar was underwater in January but the snorkeling was great, the water is shallow and clear. Three or four hotels line the beach and there is a large beach restaurant to accommodate the many tourists. The street has a few restaurants and a couple of shops as well as a 7/11 for cheap beers! 😎

We saw pictures at the internet and was amazed, by the beauty of this beach. We rent a car and after 45 min we get there. The difference between the beach we saw and the reality is too big. Someone did a great photoshop!;(
I will not recommend this beach.
