Went out of our way to get here and we were disappointed. Filthy with rubbish, glass and oily water. Snorkeling is average at best. Don't even bother the walk over to the connected island, it was even more dirty.

At this time of year especially, there is no snorkeling. The water is white from stirred up sand and silt. All I’ve seen is dead coral and seaweed. I’m a dive instructor and read a lot of old reviews about this place. Don’t bother!!!!

Koh Ma is a beautiful beach at the north-western tip of Koh Phangan. It's actually a small island connected to Phangan by a small sand bar about 200 meters long. They offer snorkeling there, but we didn't find anything worth snorkelling for. There are a couple of resorts there to stay overnight. We didn't stay there, so we can't comment on them. There are day-trips in Phangan for 500 baht (about $16) and they all stop at Koh Ma for 1-2 hours, …

There are nice shady bits where you can sit to get out of the sun. It's an odd vibe though. Sometimes brimming over with hipsters, sometimes just regular holiday-makers, sometimes both... and rarely do the twain meet.
