Blue Planet Divers offers SCUBA Diving (Courses and Guided Dives), snorkeling and is the only center offering Freediving courses on the beautiful island of Koh Lanta. We are able to provide two different daily diving locations with our two boats. Our large and spacious big boat is perfect to spend a nice chill out day to meet new friends or stay in family and also to get full diving lessons. We are the only one which offer three dives by fast catamaran to the farther and best sites around Koh Lanta. Our highly experienced and friendly team members are multi-lingual speaking, French, English, Swedish, German and Dutch. Blue Planet Divers's best value is small ratio teaching because our first concern is high standards learning. Come and join our crew for your next trip!

My wife and I tried Discovery Diving with BPD. My wife can’t swim very well and got nervous a few times, but our instructor Corrina was very good and managed our dives calmly and expertly.
James, the photographer, took some incredible pictures of our dives and we ended up purchasing them all. As first timers we thought maybe this was standard, but when we showed the photos to friends who went diving in Phi Phi island with a different operator (we didn’t ask who), they were blown away.
One little nitpick during payment (and this is gonna seem petty but I don't like fees). There was a sign advising us to pay in USD rather than THB due to conversion fee. They were pretty sure that I should pay in USD so I went ahead and did it since there was a line behind us, but I was pretty sure the conversion fee of 3.5% levied by the local bank would be more expensive (I don't have a foreign transaction fee since I use a Chase Sapphire card and I believe they use wholesale exchange rates). On the receipt my choice was between 2700 THB and $94.01 USD, so I suspect I'd have saved ~$3 going with THB. I think probably they got some complaints from customers who had other credit cards and got burned by high foreign transaction fees, but I'd just say that these things are nuanced.

Thank you very much for your review! .. And explanation about bank fees which are not always easy to explain as we are only bank retailers :) As you said it is most likely the same if you use your own currency or local with little charge. Banks are a bit tricky but at the end you'll pay with not much difference.

We have shifted our itinerary to Koh Lanta in order to be able to organize diving trips to Hin Muang, Hin Daeng, Ko Haaa and in the Bida Islands the first day.
Kat, our private instructor, did half of the job. She was adorable, very professional, and full of positive energy. Benjamin the manager was very helpful during the booking process (i have also bought a mask with corrected lenses. We have seen a guitar shark in Koh Bida and a whale shark on the way to Ko Haa. The catamaran boat is quite fast compared to the other boats. The only suggestion i would do is to invest in better equipment: long suits with different thickness, palms with boots...

Thank you very much for this great review! We're always happy to receive excellent feedback from our new diving friends.
We are taking in consideration your suggestions. we are just a bit curious about the equipment qualtiy. We are very close to every parts of our equipment and service them properly every year. If there are any issue during the morning testing then we send them directly back to the service room. We will be more carefull and chat with the team.
Regarding the long wetsuit we will discuss about it and try to purchase a few sizes as 95% of our guests use only shorties. But, we understand as well that there are people getting colder and quicker than other.

I did three days of diving with Blue Planet - nine dives in total including Hin Daeng, Hin Muang, Ko Haa, Kled Keaw wreck, and the Bidas. If you are shopping for a dive operator on Lanta save yourself some time and just book with Blue Planet. They are first class all the way. I dove with three different divemasters - Austin, Sam, and Dominic...all were professional, safe, and made sure we had an enjoyable dive regardless of sea conditions. The catamaran is comfortable and clearly the best boat on the island, food is excellent, and the whole process is efficient and well-managed. Great job Blue Planet team!

Blue Planet was very responsive on WhatsApp to organise the dives, and the package quoted for 2 days diving was very reasonable. They pick up and drop off from your hotel. The catamaran is large, clean and well appointed. Lots of room to chill between dives. Breakfast, lunch and snacks provided on board were really good quality. The quality of the diving gear is fine. There were two of us and we did 3 dives each for 2 days. Groups are small, with no more than 4 individuals per guide. Our guides, Brice and Mark were both excellent, both knowledgeable and attentive and really made our trip special. All the staff and the owner are very pleasant and helpful.
Overall, am very impressed with Blue Planet Divers, would thoroughly recommend. Thank you to Blue Planet!

I’ve been diving with a fee operations around the world and Blue Planet comes in at the top of the list. Fantastic guides and staff, well maintained boats, and top notch management. They just make everything look easy, and I know that it really isn’t.
They were extremely flexible and handled our large and unruly group with grace and professionalism.

I looked at a couple of dive operators in Koh Lanta before booking six days with Blue Planet. I'm so glad I chose them! From the most comfortable dive boat I've ever been on (I'm a dive professional so I've been on a few) and quality food between dives (like a high-end live-aboard) to a great crew and staff, my experience was first class all the way. My dive guides Austin, Kat, Oliver and Dominick were just great. They skillfully organized the dives and kept track of their flock. At the busier dive sites, they did their best to keep us away from crowds. I did a total of 18 dives and loved every one of them. If you book with Blue Planet, you'll be as happy as I am!

We dived with Tid and we had some amazing dives. The first two dives we saw many different kinds of tropical fish and colourful corals. The third dive was spectacular we saw so many big fish hunting bait fish. Trevallys, Jacks and tunas were on feeding frenzy in front of our eyes!

If you are a casual diver, looking for a day trip, you might be fine with this operation. If you are looking for more than a day trip, look elsewhere.
As an instructor, I was disappointed in the safety prep done during our trips. There was a short briefing about food, drink, heads, and dive sites. However, there was no mention of lost diver procedures, diver recall, oxygen location, or radio procedures. There was no regard for experience in relation to group pairings or diving.
We dove the exact same sites multiple days and we’re required to follow the profile of our least experienced diver. Despite asking about extending bottom times and being told that was acceptable (as long as we maintained a buddy team) we were not permitted to use our full 60 minutes as some in the group needed to surface around 40 minutes. We were surfacing with greater than 1/2 tank.
The boat was crowded and filled with very young children, including infants. They were not required to wear life vests and were permitted to run around on the boat and, several times, left unsupervised by parents. There was no intervention from the crew.
Gear was placed in bins after diving and we were told it would be rinsed. It was not. Regs were left salty and wetsuits left soaking wet and thrown in the bottom of the bin. Had I known, I would have taken my gear with me.
I was so disappointed in the diving and safety, that I skipped 3 of the days we were to dive. I cannot recommend this shop and will seek other options when we return

Great service from beginning to end. Even during Songkran these guys managed to organise great diving snorkeling and food on board. The sites and times spent on this day trip were good with some of the guidings giving local tips. One for you to use when in Koh Lanta.

We are 2 rescue / CMAS** divers with 2 kids (10 and 11).
We booked twice within the same week and dove in Koh Haa and Koh Bida. I would strongly recommend Koh Haa for a 1st dive.
The journey was smooth and pleasant.
Josh has been a perfect fit for our kids who had their 1st scuba diving experience (discover scuba diving). He’s very pedagogue, calm and so gentle.
As 2 experienced divers we have been assigned dive masters that were ok.
The boat master was also very welcoming and explained everything about how things work on the boat including safety (even if some reviewers may seem to have missed them).
The food is ok and the Thai staff is always nice. Don’t forget to bring some cash to tip them.
Last but not least, Matt is a great photographer and really puts a lot of effort to take amazing pictures of everyone. It’s actually the 1st time that I find pictures that are much better than mine.
Overall, I recommend this dive center even if experienced divers could have higher expectations.
And of course thanks to Josh, Matt, Kosi (not sure about the spelling) and the Thai staff.

Merci pour votre message! Nous sommes très ravis que notre centre retient votre attention. Comme vous avez pu le lire, nous offrons seulement des sorties à la journée sur nos sites Koh Haa et Koh Bida pour activités plongées et snorkeling. Nous avalons des partenaires Thai pour les sorties Koh Rok et 4 Îles (avec emerald cave). Il n'y aura pas malheureusement de personnes francophones à bord de ces excursions. Nous pouvons vous réservez des sorties en speedboat pour ces deux types de journée. Si vous souhaitiez participer à l'une de nos journée la snorkeling ou baptême de plongée, n'hésitez pas aussi à nous contacter. Nous avons un équipe professionnelle francophone prête à vous faire découvrir nos splendides fonds sous-marins.

My partner and myself are coming to koh lanta On may 2nd for 2 weeks. Will we be able to dive, my partner is ow, I am aow. We have read reports that they stop diving at the end of April.

Hi,
Diving is still possible until the 15th of May as Marine Park are closing every national park until the 15th of October.
We cannot promise daily trips as like you said it is nearly the end of the season. The best would to come over and I'm pretty sure that in weeks we could offer you a couple of days diving. Looking as last season we have daytrips nearly every day but again no promise.
Thanks and hopefully meet you in sometimes in May.
