Uncrowded and stunning beach. Wonderful to walk along and savour. Pickup spot for some of the island tours. But very quiet after they have departed. Few restaurants and bars available. Five star hotel also has its own jetty and facilities.

Kantian Bay - one of Koh Lanta's "secluded and quieter" beaches in the southern section of the island.

It is a true tropical bowl of vegetation with the jungle descending down the hillside right to the beach edge.

Swim out a little and turn inland - you will see the rich flora and fauna spreading up the hillside in a stunning natural amphitheatre.

The bay itself is long and big enough for anyone to find their own spot to sunbathe. But small and quiet enough to feel unique.

Golden yellow sands meet the edge of blue clear waters (on a good weather day) and the beach is kept spotless thanks to the efforts of numerous beach cleaner operations - something that the rest of Koh Lanta needs to wake up to!

Diving, Kayaking, Snorkelling.... all activities that can be done in the bay or you can rely on a local operator to take you further afield if need be.

Head to the northern end of the beach for the nightlife and eateries.... and local shops...

local establishments include bars, restaurants, convenience stores, travel agents, massage clinics etc.....

It’s a very long and quite wide beach and not to crowded! Came here to watch the sunset a few times and they were really nice. There is a few small cute bars and restaurant at the end of the beach, worth a visit!

I've been to a lot of beaches and this is the best in Ko Lanta! I took my motorbike and just coincidentally ran across this beach. I parked the bike easily and walked to the water. There were only a few people around. I got right in the crystal blue ocean and could do nothing but smile and laugh about my discovery. It was exactly what I was looking for after a couple nights in Bangkok! If you're looking for serenity and exclusivity this an excellent choice!

We have just returned from staying in Kantiang Bay and can thoroughly recommend this area in Koh Lanta. The beach was stunning and we really felt we had chose the best part of Koh Lanta to stay in.

There was some lovely restaurants and bars in the bay. The Why not bar was a good choice. Our favourite was the sunset bar although the walk up the hill was quite steep. It was so worth it! The views of the sunset were stunning. A definite must.

We can also highly recommend a meal at the Bayside restaurant which overlooks the bay. Excellent service and amazing food.

The resort is about 25 min drive from Saladan and approximately 500 bhat each way in a taxi. We used a local cab driver called Opp. He was really friendly and very reliable.

If your planning a stay in Koh Lanta and want a relaxing and chilled out resort. This is somewhere worth considering.

Just to note it's not got much in the way of nightlife but plenty of tour shops and bike rentals if needed.

We stayed in Kantiang Bay for 2 months. The area is lovely, the beach is great (although there is quite a lot of glass strewn about at low tide so wear flip flops) and the pace is slow. There are some good restaurants, but most of the Thai food is not great (rushed and non-authentic farang-style). Best places are Noon, Same Same But Different, Drunken Sailors and Baan Kantiang Restaurant - this is the best for Thai food in our opinion. The lady by 7-Eleven makes good pancakes.

We stayed in a private bungalow called Kantiang Thai Villas. It's not on TripAdvisor but you can Google 'Kantiang Bay Thai Villas' and it will be the first result.

A word of warning if you are thinking of renting this villa. The pictures are misleading as they are building new villas right next door to these ones. The view is not what you see here. When we stayed there (Oct - Dec 2012) the building started around 8am, was very noisy, and sometimes didn't stop until midnight (despite our requests). I understand that locals (and non-locals with local connections) want to benefit from the tourist boom but at times it feels like they don't understand how this threatens the very tranquility people are attracted by. We got a very small refund (£10).

Be sure to ask about building work wherever you are staying on Ko Lanta because there is a lot of it happening. Most of it is in keeping with the low-rise, non-invasive style of the accommodation on the island, but 2-storeys or 22-storeys, the sound of a circular saw or nail-gun is the same.

Also, girls, please don't strut about in just a bikini away from the beach. And the same goes for guys with no shirts. It's a predominantly Muslim island and this lack of respect really damages relations.

As per the title, best beach in Ko Lanta. Sunset was unbelievable. Few good places to eat within walking distance.

This place was amazing because you could only access from a few spots. The beach was a beautiful approx 2km long and even after storms was free from a lot of washed up trash. There are few bars and resorts to stop in and have a dinner or drinks. The water was a great tea and the waves were just big enough to have fun...Sunsets were amazing from here we will certainly return again next year.

I stayed here for a few weeks, it was so lovely, I ended up changing my flight and sticking around. Staff from each resort on the beach pick up rubbish from it daily and so it is much cleaner than every other beach I visited (because it's low season with wind and higher waves, a lot of rubbish litters the other beaches). I didn't come across a jelly fish either and did lots of swimming! Friendly staff in the Why Not bar and a lovely restaurant with good food at Baan Lanta at the end of the beach.

Easy to get to, lovely stretch of beach nice and clean sand. Lovely clean water and a few nice places to eat. However they did have the dreaded sea lice when we were there so very stingy to swim in the sea.
