You need to get a permit from the Forest Dept. near Munjikal. Then you drive through the original Shola forest which is really awesome with breath taking views. The lake is so serene and clean. Is really worth the drive.

Or else park your car and opt for transport by forest department... More

Serene lake. But too far. Takes almost a day of your holiday in Kodaikanal. Nothing to see except the lake. And no facilities there for food.

Best experience. Better hire a guide from your tour operator who knows better about this forest and the surrounding area. It would take more than an hour to reach there through forest roads. And the sceneries were awesome with mist covering the mountains. Basically it doesn't have much to do there but a calm lake away from hawkers. Best place... More
