On the way to Berijam Lake. One need to get permission from forest department, if you are travelling by your own vehicle (Rs.200 + reach the check post at Moir Point at 9 am to enter, first 25 vehicles permitted, Or get permission from forest office at Moonjikal-only for TN registration vehicles) Other wise forest department has its buses running (10, 10.30, 12.30, 13) and charges Rs. 100 per head. - worth visiting. You can see 5 attractions for Rs. 100 - Silent valley view, Mathikettan chola view, fire tower, Caps fly valley, Berijam lake

What a beautiful place in the lap of mother nature. The place just mesmerizes you with the scenic beauty. It is on the way to Berijam lake for which forest department permission is needed. The clouds blow upwards from the valley. Awesome place.

The view is very mesmerizing because of the clouds but the place is filled with so many tourists that it becomes hard to admire the beauty without someone pushing you and someone shouting near your ears.

Silent Valley View, situated at a short distance from Pillar Rocks, can be seen on the Berijam lake road. The best time to make a visit to this valley is during early morning and late afternoon. Since the valley is deep, children visiting this valley have to be accompanied by their parents. Amazing place with awesome beauty of nature. Everyone should visit this place. Nice place for photographers. Don't miss this your Kodaikanal trip. It is princess of hill..

Wasn’t the best of the experiences as the place was extremely crowded and the area was covered with mist so could hardly see anything . It’s best to visit these points early mornings than after mid morning as traffic gets bad and too much crowd.

You can visit silent valley view point only if you have taken permission to visit the berijam lake. Its a view point on the way to berijam, the first stop over.
The place is very peaceful, you can enjoy the silence, the mist and the air.
Inspite of being in a restricted area, people have managed to dump water bottles , plastic covers atc on this ecologically fragile spot. It was very sad to note. Please do not drop biscuit packets, chips packets, water bottles in such places.

Restricted access to a view point ? Because it lies on the way to Berijam lake. Look out for a board on a tree that says "Silent Valley" while driving to Berijam lake. This should one of the best view points here for two main reasons:
First and the obvious one is the view from here is breathtaking. When we visited Kodai it was cloudy so the chances of seeing anything was minimal. But we were lucky as the clouds gave way to sunshine for some time and we got to witness some stunning view of the landscape veiled thinly by the clouds.
Secondly the number of people visiting here is less due to the restricted access and its less crowded with no hawkers making it a very clean place to visit. And its right in the middle of the forest as well.
So if one is visiting Berijam lake then you got to stop here and explore and enjoy the views.

It is one of the famous tourist attractions or must to go place. So, you will difinitely see the crowd. Try to go when it is drizzling, less or no people and mesmerising view to enjoy.

First you have to go through a lane filled with hawkers which is busier than Mumbai locals in summer. And then you will have to squeeze yourself in the tourist crowd and try to take a picture of the silent valley.

Hi, that would be difficult to answer ..... but if it is of any help..., we were there beginning Dec the fog did play an appearing/disappearing game then. A minute is clear and in a few minutes .... the mountains are covered by fog. You could probably compare the weather charts or look at the predictions before you plan your trip.

Hi, is this place is crowded during weekends ?
Written February 23, 2017
I'm sorry. I thought you asked about silent valley in Kerala and answered the question. Just after posting I saw that it's was silent valley view and not silent valley. Actually Silent Valley View at Kodaikanal is a crowded place even during off season or week days. So definitely it'll be crowded on weekends.
