Rana Kumbha Palace is one of the most interesting places to visit in Chittorgarh fort. It is the largest monument in the Chittorgarh Fort and has a grand history attached to it. It has been the residence to people like Bappa Rawal, Maharana Kumbha among others.
Legend of Panna Dhai, who saved infant Udai Singh with the heart-breaking sacrifice of her infant son, is also associated with this palace. The dungeons of this palace are also supposed to be the place where Rani Padmani and the other women of the palace committed Johar.
Must visit place in Chittorgarh fort.

Rana Kumbha's Palace is situated inside the Chittorgarh Fort and near to the Vijay Stambh. Lots of history attached to the palace. It is the birthplace of Maharana Udai Singh, whose life was saved by the heroic act of the maid Panna Dhay, who replaced her son in place of the prince. Rani Meera Bai also lived in this palace. This is the place where Rani Padmini committed Johar Brata with the other ladies. Currently the palace is remaining in ruined condition. A visit of the ruins of the palace while visiting Chittorgarh Fort is recommended.

Though the place is in ruins, you need to imagine as to what a Royal Place it must have been - The Palace of Maharaja, Queens's Palace, The tunnels leading to Bathing place, The Veranda, The Stable all the paraphernalia. This place cant be restored and therefore one has to enjoy the beauty through their imagination based on the narration of Guides. A Guide is a must to appreciate every part of this Palace.

Nothing much to view in this palace. It is almost in ruins. Without guide you will not be able to figure out the kind of building it has. One horse stable and janana mahal is intact.Visit this place for couple of pics and then move on

The Palace is located withing the Fort and is a great example of the Rajputana Architecture. The palace must have been a grand one during the reign of Raja Rana Kumbha but today it is just a massive ruin in the abandoned fort.

Not very grand like the ones u see in udaipur but you get a good view of the history. Dont miss the mirrors through which the Rana showed his queen Padmini's pic to Aluddin Khilji. The famed belgian glasses can also been seen here

The not so impressive looking Rana Kumbha Palace is replete with stories of bravery and valour. Named after Rana Kumbha who made Chittaurgarh famous as a cultural centre, this palace was constructed in the 15th century. It is also the birthplace of Maharana Udai Singh, the founder of Udaipur. The palace is entered through either of the two gates, Badipol or Tripolia. Within the complex is a Ganesh temple, the living quarters for ladies, beautiful balconies and stables. Presently in ruins, do take a guide to indicate the various facets of the palace. The palace also houses the Meera Bai temple. The greatness of the palace is the history of Rana Kumbha, one of the bravest sons of India.

Rana Kumbka Palace is not so grand in terms of height, vastness or architecture, it's really known for bravery, courage, tireless efforts of the famous Rajputana king Rana Kumbha (1433-1468) who fought several battles in and throughout his life, it is said that he had a total of 80 injuries from battles, had lost his one leg, one eye in the battlefield., Humanyu once said that India would not have come under Mughal rule if only a few of next generation of Rana Kumbha had been similar to him. So, it is Rana Kumbha who made his palace worthseeing, not the grandness of the palace itself . Rana Kumbha was the greatest of the Rana Dynasty. Kumbha Palce is built on a high plateform with separate parts for queens inside.

It can be approached by 2 gateways to the east - Badi Pol & Tripoliya .After purchasing your entry tickets from the ticket counter , this is the first structure that you will visit. It is a ruined edifice of great historical interest .It is the Birthplace of Maharaja Udai Singh - the founder of Udaipur & has been the residence of people like Bappa Rawal - the founder of Mewar kingdom , the multi - talented king Maharana Kumbha (ruled for 35 years from 1433 - 1468 AD ) who was an able ruler , a great warrior who strengthened Mewar by all means & was also an expert in architecture - Out of the 82 forts in Mewar , 32 were constructed by Maharana Kumbha . He renovated the Chittorgarh fort & constucted 7 gates to the west , He built the Kumbha Swami temple & Shringar Chavri & along with the forts & temples he also built many ponds & step-wells. He was an erudite scholar who studied the ancient Vedas , Upanishads & wrote several books on various subjects. His reign was golden era for music , drama , sculptures & paintings in Mewar. This palace was also home to the spiritual Hindu poetess Meera Bai & the beautiful & courageous legendary queen Rani Padmini. It is associated with the legend of Panna Dai - a symbol of utmost loyalty who sacrificed her own infant son to save Maharana Udai Singh . It houses Darikhana , Surya Gokhra, Zenana Mahal , Kunwar Bade ka Mahal & Topkhana & other open courts. The remarkable feature of this palace is a splendid series of canopied balconies. The light & sound show is held in its premises in the evening . Do take a guide to better understand the facets of this fort .
