Everyone in Amritsar wants to fleece you. So keep following in mind. Taxi from Airport to City fair fare is RS450/- But they charge from RS1200 to RS2000. Doing shopping for clothes, shoes/sandals or anything negotiate after doing your selection from 50% of quoted price and do not pay more than 60% of the quoted price. I found this in my second trip on 12-14 August 2017. I was fleeced when I went in March 2017. So please be alert.

These is basically a market place which a big gate built in Mughal architecture. The Gate was a massive clock. The market has a wide range of products. Electronics, handicrafts, clothes etc. are available within reasonable prices. You definitely need to bargain to get good deals.

Shopped till I dropped, is exactly what happened when I visited the market. Not a place to tug along kids. Bargain hard as the first prices quoted are exuberantly high. Fierce competition exists between the shops. A thumbs up for the variety of phulkari suits, salwar, dupatta and patiala. Be prepared to walk through the market.

Kartar Singh Di Hatti in the market Katra Kanhiyan, Hall Bazar is a fraud shop. Utter crooks. We were sweet talked into buying and giving 7 suits for stitching by an extremely pushy and sweet talking salesman named Deepak. This man made tall claims, charged double of what other shops quote (we discovered later) promising perfect suits. He asked us what time were we leaving, which was 4.30 am next morning and instead of the 2 hrs claim, had the suits delivered at our hotel at 10 pm, that too after repeated reminders. They spoilt all 7 suits and Deepak washed his hands totally saying he has done his best. Left a very bad taste in mouth besides loss of money. Avoid this shop is my advise.

Hall Bazaar is great to see with an auto-rickshaw. Just have a chat with a couple of auto-rickshaw drivers hanging outside the Ramada hotel. They usually know which shops to take customers too, and it is best way to get around all that congestion. If you are good at chatting nicely, and bargaining while chatting you can get some great deals from the shopkeepers. But take cash with you...Rupees preferable...some shopkeepers will take dollars too.

Kartar Singh Di Hatti in the market Katra Kanhiyan, Hall Bazar is a fraud shop. Utter crooks. We were sweet talked into buying and giving 3 suits and 4 Patiala for stitching by an extremely pushy and sweet talking salesman named Sunny. This man made tall claims, charged double of what other shops quote (we discovered later) promising perfect suits. The suits ripped off on one wear and the colour transferring. He asked us what time were we leaving, which was in the morning and he promised to deliever at the hotel. He did not deliver and we had to go collect, that too after repeated reminders. They spoilt all 7 suits and Sunny washed his hands totally saying he has done his best. Left a very bad taste in mouth besides loss of money. The worst shopping experience in my life. These guys are biggest fraudsters

They have lots of ways to fraud with you. No repeat customers they have. I buy hand made fulkari from them, but when opened the packet, it was a cheap machine made with same colour suit.

It's buzzing and it's just the point where cars are allowed ..soon after ;they are not .it's a pedestrian area 200 meters ahead .
It has several hotels and small shops ..just amble through it .it's so much fun or just take a cycle rickshaw ..and look around and don't forget to stop by all the famous eateries ...

Amritsar means putting on weight in style .
So worth it I say
