Do not go to this Dairy farm. It is no more a tourist place now a days. They are not allowing any tourist inside to visist and see the cows. My driver also suggested that it was closed when we travelled to Munnar. I checked the same and found a board infront of this property.

Even though the sightings of the cows from a distance is great, but this is a guarded private property. The gates are not opened for tourist. You can only see from far.

Indo Swiss Project is a Dairy Farm with gated and guarded property. No one is allowed to see it. You can see from outside the gate. This is not a tourist attraction as permission is not available to tourist.

While it is a major attraction in the area (or so my driver told me) we couldn't enter. However, while crossing Mattupetti, we did see large areas of farmland with cattle grazing (and one of those areas even had 5 wild elephants!!) Honestly, that sighting made my day.

Our stay at the Govt. Guest House Bungalow was via special permission. Visitors are restricted. It is well maintained.
The Indo-Swiss Project established in 1963 is now known as The Kerala Livestock Development Corporation.
It's well managed. The Project encompasses an area of more than 500 acres. Our stay was eventful in the sense that we got to see wild elephants who had trespassed into the site from the forests above. It was a thrilling experience. The climate was very cool and pleasant. Waking up in the morning is the best time to enjoy the sights and sounds. The cows can be seen led to pasture. The workers can be seen going about their daily tasks. Planting, cutting, pruning etc.It is a working Project.
Semen collection from high-bred bulls is another highlight, unfortunately we missed it because we overslept!!
In the evening we enjoyed a barbecue in the fireplace at the Bungalow.
Abilash the caretaker was very efficient. The canteen provides good food. However if you are in the mood for cooking the Bungalow kitchen is fully equipped for it.
