Not at all worth the long long ride. If you want to go for a good ride you can just touch Kundala lake and come back, as the road after that point becomes bad. The view from the top is average at best, much better views can be seen on the Eravikulam path. There are barricades and wooden logs everywhere so can't even click descent photos. Just don't go there and spend time elsewhere, there are plenty of much more beautiful places in Munnar.

We are travelling by motorbike and road into Munnar from Pollachi in the north. That road coming into Munnar was a zillion times better that the road up to Top Station. There is nothing up there anyway. No nice chai stall or coffee shop or anything. The road past the lake has a few but they are nothing special at all. So after riding around the area for a few days we would say the town its self has nothing to offer and id just head north on that road up to where it becomes a tiger reserve.

We left early in the morning and after an almost 90min drive reached Top Station. The views from the top are nice without being too overwhelming. Get there early before the tour busses arrive and it gets really crowded.
If you are on a short visit to Munnar, you can skip this long drive.
There are great views all around Munnar

Top Station is scenic dead end/point that the trip planners would suggest you as an alternative of national park (Closed during breeding season). Not their fault, as they have to fill in something but it is not worth the time you would be investing. I would rather suggest to visit Ripple Tea Factory, followed by pictures at the Dam. Just a go little more up till the time you get a good view of the tea plantation. Click a few pictures of the farmers plucking leaves/with a machine, come back to the hotel and spend the time with friends and family. Rest its up to you.

Top station is the most beautiful place of Manali.
The fog covers the amazing tea gardens and disappears every now and then.
Even after travelling a lot, we have not seen such amount of fog anywhere.
A must visit point, take several photos with a cup of tea and enjoy.

Be there at the top station viewpoint before 9:30 AM for better views during the rainy season. Heavy mist may cover the horizon, thereby masking any view at all over there. Lunch options are limited over there.

The site is about 2 hrs from Munnar. The site is worthwhile visiting. There is a tower from which one can view the surrounding mountains and valley. If the view is good, the landscape is impressive. The site is however very touristic with too many little shops on the way, which reduces the natural beauty of the experience. It is also quite crowded and noisy and not very clean.

It was a long 36 Km mountain road drive on the Munnar-Kodaikkanal road, from Munnar in Kerala to Topstation in Tamil Nadu.Topstation is situated at a altitude of 1700 meters( 5578 ft). This place falls on the border of Kerala and Tamil Nadu, and so it offers a clear view of the panoramic Western Ghats and the valley of Theni District in Tamil Nadu on a clear day. When i visited the entire mountain side was covered in dense fog .It was akin to being in the clouds..

We visited the top station after reading many reviews on the net. Munnar to Top station view is very good and many spots come on the way like Dams, boating Rose garden, echo point etc. When We reached at the point lots of cloud were there so We don't have a lot to see. It was a nice journey and if you got clear weather then you will have a stunning view.

Best views are there.
There is watch tower which is usually crowded.
From there if u walk 200 meters downsides in stairs, teh views are unparalleled. And less public is there as it is paid one.

Is there any public transport available at top station, like bus or auto to get back to munnar town?
Written February 14, 2019
Not too sure of buses or public transport. Never saw one.
Suggest you hire a car to and fro from Munnar to top station and back.
Written February 15, 2019
