- ashish_hm109 contributionsGood place to enjoy scenic beautyTo go to the top of the mountain you need to take a safari bus at the entrance , pls be sure to book online to skip the queue. Now the safari is not like jungle ones and hence don't expect dense forests, it goes through hill roads at a high point so you can have a valley view. After reaching the top , you need to further climb hills for 1 km. You can also rent a battery operated vehicle. The top view is mesmerizing but don't expect any animals.Visited April 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten April 25, 2024
- Ranjani SChennai (Madras), India78 contributionsNice spot for mountain goat sightingIt's about 15 kms away from munnar town. Once you get there, buy a ticket at Rs.200/person + 50 for camera for the bus fare. The buses are available every 10-15 mins. And they take you into the park above. The last 1 km you have to walk to the sight seeing spot. You can spot AnaMalai peak on the way and get a good view of it, the famous Nilgiri Thar goats are roaming at the drop point above and you can get great pictures. The top spot has great views of the forest and surrounding peaks. If one can't walk, golf carts are available at the bus drop point to the peak at Rs.700/cart. Demand is high, so you may have to wait. Golf carts are also available from the parking area also, albeit expensive, if you want an exclusive tour you can hire them. You should be able to spot Langoors and Nilgiri Thar easily. Small curio shops are there with souveniers. 10 Min VR is available near the ticket counter, the resolution is not amazing, at Rs.100/person extra they show you the various sights and animals at the national park. It gets very crowded, so plan to get there earlyVisited May 2024Traveled with familyWritten May 19, 2024
- ArpitaS34 contributionsTop place to visit in MunnarWe could not see the Nilgiri Tahr. But the majestic Anamudi peak with its rippling waterfalls and rain soaked surface made up for the missing Tahr. The park is a plastic free zone which has our hearts. Wish they didn't sell disposable raincoats and people make the effort to carry their own umbrellas and raincoats to keep the outside of the park plastic free too. Everything else about the park is beautiful. It was our best site in Munnar.Visited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten June 13, 2024
- Mohsin AMuscat, Oman506 contributionsBeautiful during monsoonWe visited the park during monsoon and it was raining softly which added to the atmosphere. The car had to be parked outside and we had to buy tickets costing 200 per adult. Park bus took us to the base station just below the peak. Busses are available every 5 minutes. The drops you up on the mountain near two coffee shops. From there onwards it's about one kilometre walk up the mountain. It is not difficult as there is proper road. E cart is also available for 7000 INR. There are waterfalls on the way up which adds to the beauty. Up it was all mist, drizzle and cold breeze. Overall a wonderful experience during rainy season.Visited June 2024Traveled with familyWritten July 8, 2024
- Rakesh A5 contributionsEravikulam national park visitVisit was fascinating especially the bus trip and all around deep green forest cover with hovering clouds and enroute streams and waterfalls. Even we could trace Tahr goat from the bus. While climbing up the hill on foot we saw so many Tahr goats 🐐 with sporadic Neelkuranjee flowers even.Visited July 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 7, 2024
- Curious_Yagnamurthy20159464452Shillong, India22 contributionsRajamalaiBeautiful greenary. Note you are at more than 2000m above sea level. A scary bus ride for 4 km. Then walk for 1km to see mountain goats. Book tickets online to avoid queue. Trust me, there is no mobile signal for almost all providers like Airtel, jio, etc. only BSNL 2G signal works.Visited November 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten August 26, 2024
- kallisto01Paris, France82 contributionsIt is not a must visitIt is interesting to see the Nilgiris thar endemic to this park. There are between 700 and 800 and about 3000 in the world (Himalayan slopes and Sultanate of Oman). Obtaining an entry ticket is difficult because no ticket office as elsewhere but terminals. Only one machine takes international credit cards. Luckily the staff is here to help. Then you have to get on a bus (we were told a shortcut not to queue, otherwise you can wait 1 hour before you can get on. At the finish, 1km walk on a concrete road and you are not alone. After 1 km, road blocked because we can not go further, so go back down the same path. Very beautiful landscapes of tea plantations as far as the eye can see. This is not an unavoidable excursion.Visited November 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten November 25, 2024

The park is a conservatory of the local variety of mountain goats called "Tahr", and as such you don't have much to do here. Once ticketed, a bus will drop you to the top, where you can take a kilometre long walk and back, and get back.
You can buy tickets at windows or online on the attraction's website. The queue for the ticket can be long, so better to buy online. The basic ticket is about 200 for adults, 150 for children, and 500 for foreigners. A private buggy for 5 costs 7500/- and saves you a kilometre walk at the top, which I wouldn't suggest you save since there isn't much if you do.
Even then the queue for the boarding bus can take up to an hour. Getting on the bus is haphazard since the queue is not strictly enforced.
At the top, you have toilets and a restaurant. Ride amidst tea plantations and walk amidst nature and mountains can be a soothing experience with a pleasant breeze and amazing views. Overall a good way to spend two hours in a natural environment. You will get to see Tahr, of course.

A must visit national park if you visit munnar. Dedicate 3-4 hours for the visit. You will get beautiful sight of mountains covered in greenery and surrounded by clouds. If the climate is good usually you may spot nilgiri tahr, this national park is dedicated itself for this rare endemic species
You will have to buy tickets from the base which is 200/- . A bus will drop you on the top point. After that there is a walk way of around 1km. Which will lead you to beautiful scenery. There is one cafe and an exhibition hall too.Almost after walking half the hill you may spot a place where you could get free cold natural water.

This is a must-do when in Munnar! The views were breathtaking throughout and we were lucky to see a group of about 8 Nilgiri Thar, which was a treat. As others have said, you have to buy a ticket and take a 20 minute bus ride to the drop off point from where you can choose to continue by foot or simply return by bus. I would highly recommend at least walking a little by foot for those that can physically do it. The road is very well paved and wide. We did not have a wait at all when buying tickets but other reviewers seemed to encounter long waits, I'm sure it depends on the time and day you visit. It looks like there's an option to buy tickets online as well to avoid waiting in line at the park.
Our kids loved seeing the Thar! Even if you don't catch a glimpse of the Thar, the wonderful mountain views alone make this a worthwhile activity. We got some great pictures while there.

The place is over rated for the amount of effort it took to get in the park. Ticket line is a chaos and they stop ticket booking on a whim. If you get tickets you have to be in line for a 10 min bus ride. The view you get is first 2 minute is the view you get for entirety of you trip here from different heights. There is 1 km trek and possibly of spotting Nilgiri tahr is close to 0. Inside experience is horrible and 2 star is just for the view you get after toiling hard.
For us this took up an entire day for 1 km trek. So go there only on a non holiday day on non tourist season.

Eravikulam national park situated next to anaimudi peak. It is famous for Nilgiri Tahr. If you're lucky, you can see these Tahr. Please bear in mind, it is a forest and try to make a calm environment. Don't make weird noises as it will scare the wild animals.
The entry ticket is 200 for an adult and they will carry you in a van to a spot midst of the mountain range. From there you can walk further to the hilltop. You will witness a beautiful landscape, clouds, tiny waterfalls.

This is not a National park. Shame that this place is being tagged as a National Park where Tourists must visit.
You have to board the bus from entry point with ticket costing 200 Rs. Bus takes you for 20 minute ride on hills and leaves you at some point uphill. From there you can walk for 20-30 minutes uphill on a road, take pics and return. There is absolutely nothing to see except some wild goats(Nilgiri tahr).
1 hour waiting to get ticket, another 1 hour to board the bus, another 1 hour waiting for bus while returning. Just to have hill view which anyways you can get anywhere in Munnar.
Do no visit this place, rather chill in your resort/hotel or in some tea plantation area.

Inside the park one takes a bus to the start of a paved path. Along the way one treated to amazing views of tea plantations and the surrounding hills. The walk was crowded yet we were still able to see 20-30 Tahr goats from a distance. In addition, we saw one on the path. After being in the car all day it was great to be outside.

Munnar
What a completely disorganised operation
Dropped off at the entrance .
Total mayhem even by local standards .
Unable to purchase cash tickets or tickets in advance .
You are instructed to log on to local hotspot , can’t pay .
Unwilling to pay £75 (approx) for a golf cart to see a goat !
No thanks

Best place to see in Munnar. It will be definitely loved by nature lovers. The entry fees is 200 for an adult. The park bus take tourist from base to the top. Private vehicles are not allowed as roads are very narrow. It is a wonderful experience through the mist. We got an amazing weather when we went and it was breathtaking.

It's a good experience to visit once while you are in Munnar. But certainly not a great experience. You go by bus 2 km around and then take a walk around 2 km again then return to starting point after 1.5 hour or so. During this walk, you can see Nilgiri Thars Roaming around you to take few snaps, get very beautiful view of mountains and greenery...few photo points made for visitors. Visit souvenirs shop, cafeteria to eat very good muffins etc. Then travel back. Families with kids must visit.

Which is better to visit Eravikulum national park or Chinnar wildlife sanctuary?
Written November 19, 2019
Eravikulam is good for scenic beauty only. Can not think of picnic.
Written December 28, 2019
Hello,
This bus that takes you to top, for how long will it take to see places around and which places are covered?
And do we have any time restrictions to catch the bus down to base? I'll be travelling with my kid (1 year old), anything that I need to worry about?
Thanks for your help in advance.

After you enter Ernavikulam Park.. there they will arrange a bus which will take you to the park with other visitors. it will take upto 15 to 20 min to reach the park. The park is like Mountain you are climbing but with road which they have built. So you have to walk on it. So visiting will be easy. There you can walk upto 1 to 2 km, from that they have restricted area so you cannot go beyond that. you can watch Nilgiri Tahr (animal). which is very rare but you can find many of them there. other than this, there is nothing to see... You wont be able to see Neelkurinji flowers because they have bloomed last year.. so you have to wait till next 12 years.. with 1 year child there won't be any problem visiting.. but be sure.. there is only this animal to see and nothing else.. around 2 to 3 hours will take this place to visit.
