This place in the middle of Bhuj is a good place for hanging out/ taking walks/eating some local food. Not much of a lake, though. Needs better upkeep and maintenance and also a little more civic sense from visitors. Overall, worth a visit in the morning/evening if one has some free time while on a visit to Bhuj.

The water level of this large lake in the middle of Bhuj is now very low due to a lack of rainfall & large areas are now dry & rubbish strewn & what water there is looks pretty foul.
However, there is still much to be gained from a visit.
I walked around the whole perimeter, sometimes on the road, sometimes going down steps to the Lake's edge & at times on the dried up bottom.
There are still some birds to be seen, a few herons, a small group of pelicans & sundry smaller water birds.
Half a dozen water buffalo were roaming around & nuzzling the odd rubbish bag floating in green, scummy water.
2 or 3 groups of Dhobi Wallahs were at work ( not my stuff, I hope ).
Across the Lake there is a scenic reflection of the tower of the Prag Mahal.
There is a small park on an island in the lake, reached by a causeway-it's not too badly neglected-a bit of an effort has been made & it's worth a stroll round. I saw a few young couples quietly chatting & one man feeding some ducks.
If the rains were to come & some cleaning up done, this could be a lovely spot.

Condition of Hamirsar Lake is poor as there is hardly any water. We saw people sittng on beds on base of the laske. We also walked with buffalos to visit a small strip of water to get glimpse of some stroks, cranes and few pelicans were enjoying winter sun.
People were washing clothes in dirty water.
Clearly needs attention as this is in the middle of town adjacent to palace, park and kutch musuem and can really go a long way to enhance asthetic of the city if maintained properly and water is in the lake.

My observation:
1. It has lot of migratory birds.
2. Good place for evening/morning walk.
3. Local body should take care of the place, it requires a lot of cleaning.

Created by the Ruler of Kutch for preserving water in the rain deficient area, it collects lots of rain water when it rains through the channels made. When it is full of water it gives good views including Prag Palace in the background. When it has water it attracts lots of birds making it a place for bird watching. On the banks are benches which gives good comfort to be at the lake side and see its beauty.
