The Jardim Garcia de Orta is a small municipal garden located in the heart of Panjim, the capital of Goa. This small garden is a good place to relax or to watch kids play. The garden's main attraction is the Ashoka Pillar, India's national emblem, in the center. This replaced an earlier bust of Vasco da Gama, from the time when GOa was under the Portuguese.

The garden comes alive during festivals and occasions such as the Goa Carnival. One can see beautiful colorful masks all around and a music festival is also held here, with food stalls making for a nice overall experience.

Jardim Garcia de Orta or "Garcia de Orta Garden" is a beautiful place to walk, sit on the bench and relax. One amazing garden carefully preserved and beautiful. In few moments of the year, you have literary festivals or municipal parties. If you want eat something, all the best cafes in Panjim are nearby as 18th june Road.

This garden is a good airing place in the heart of the city. Renovated a few years back, it has a band stand and a lot of benches to relax. Contrary to what is stated above, this garden is not in Altinho, but down in the heart of the city. A lot of events are organized in this garden, like fetes, music shows, etc.

As usual in India, poorly kept & maintained- they seem to think it's for using as a public toilet. Come on, it could be so nice.
Large & full of beautiful trees.
Please take some pride.

A small green spot in the center of the city not on Altinho hillock. It mostly hosts events held in the city at which time it really comes alive.

This is such a relaxing place to be. When I had gone there , there were some teenagers with a free library stall, very nice idea if I might add. The garden is well maintained too. Really impressed with the way extra effort is being put into maintaining it.Good place to chill out.

The Jardim Garcia de Orta is an oasis of green in the Panjim market area just off the Church square. The garden was renovated recently and now with the addition of benches and a little public library, it has become a great place to relax and read a newspaper or magazine.I would't recommend a special visit here but club it with a shopping trip in Panjim and a visit to the Immaculate Conception Church. Quite a few good restaurants are in the vicinity as well.

There's not a great deal to see, a few statues and plants but a nice spot in the city. Close to the better shops and restaurants. Good to get a taxi from.

Jardim Garcia de Orta is a small, well kept garden in Panjim just off Church Square. It is named after the 16th century Portuguese physician and naturalist Garcia de Orta who died in Goa in 1568.
There is a twelve and a half metre tall column in the garden. In 1968 the national emblem of the 4 lions replaced a bust of Vasco da Gama atop the column.
The garden was first made in 1855 and recently (2010) redeveloped and opened again.
